Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration: New Illustration Rare Cards

New Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration cards have been revealed. On September 7, 2026, The Pokémon Company unveiled a fresh batch of artwork split into two moods: daytime scenes and nighttime settings. The cards shown belong to the illustration rare and special illustration rare categories, the two rarities collectors watch most closely. The expansion launches on September 16, 2026.

An anniversary expansion arriving September 16, 2026

The 30th Celebration expansion marks three decades of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Its defining trait is the density of alternate artwork cards, drawn from several generations rather than a single regional block.

The batch revealed on September 7, 2026 follows a clear organising idea. One half shows Pokémon in broad daylight, the other places them after sunset.

Daytime artwork: a day outdoors

The first group of cards leans on natural light and open-air scenes. Alolan Exeggutor appears in a festive setting, while Morpeko is shown mid-run. Salamence ex flies through a completely clear sky.

Sylveon and Fuecoco round out the daytime selection. Toxtricity and Greninja share an illustration built around dance, in line with their established visual identities.

Nighttime artwork: after dark

The second group shifts toward special illustration rare cards with nocturnal tones. Gholdengo is placed on a dance floor in a light-covered outfit. A group of Scraggy occupies another card in the set.

Jirachi ex closes the series with a cosmic illustration, the Pokémon drifting among nebulae. The day/night contrast structures a significant part of the expansion's chase lineup.

The Kanto legendary trio reunited

Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres return in this expansion. The three cards are designed to be placed side by side, a technique already used across several recent Pokémon TCG expansions.

This triptych format raises demand on all three cards at once, since the artwork only reads as intended when the set is complete.
