Detailed information

General overview of Exeggutor

Exeggutor is a Grass and Psychic-type Pokémon (or Grass and Dragon in its Alolan form), known in Japanese as ナッシー. In the main games, it appears as a tall, massive Pokémon with several heads that react independently. Its number in the Pokédex varies by form, but it remains a strategically interesting choice for players seeking a powerful Grass Pokémon with support moves like Sleep Powder or strong offensive options like Seed Bomb or Confusion. Exeggutor is often encountered in jungle or tall grass areas, and requires careful management of its stats and Speed to unlock its full potential.

Base characteristics and stats

In terms of stats, Exeggutor has very good HP and high Special Attack, making it effective at dealing damage with its Grass and Psychic moves. Its Defense is decent, but its Speed remains low, which requires players to carefully anticipate turns in battle. Its nature significantly influences its performance, and natures that raise Special Attack or Special Defense are generally preferred.

Size, weight, and miscellaneous information

Exeggutor is a tall and heavy Pokémon, standing around 2 m and weighing close to 120 kg, much more in its Alolan form where it exceeds 10 m. These characteristics have no direct impact on battles, but they explain its massive appearance and the presence of multiple heads. It evolves from Exeggcute using a Leaf Stone, making it a simple evolution to obtain early or mid-game.

Exeggutor's moves and abilities

Exeggutor has a wide move pool. On the Grass side, it can learn Bullet Seed, Seed Bomb, or the powerful Leaf Storm to maximize damage output. On the Psychic side, Confusion, Psychic, or Future Sight are particularly useful. Status moves like Sleep Powder can completely turn around a battle by putting the target to sleep.

Useful TM and HM moves

Thanks to TMs available across different generations, Exeggutor can improve its offensive coverage. TMs of the Fire type such as Flamethrower are not compatible, but it can learn Rock, Grass, Psychic, and even some powerful Normal moves like Explosion. Players also appreciate its access to recovery and protection options, making it a versatile Pokémon.

Encounters, catch rate, and breeding

Exeggutor does not appear in the wild in every generation. In games where it can be found wild, it is often located in jungles or near beaches, with a fairly low encounter rate. Its catch rate is not high, especially in FireRed and LeafGreen where its natural level can be significant.

For breeding, Exeggutor belongs to the Grass and Field egg groups. It produces eggs that hatch into Exeggcute, allowing players to obtain better stats or natures. The hatching time is reasonable.

Exeggutor in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, Exeggutor has a high maximum CP thanks to its elevated Special Attack. Its Alolan variant is also appreciated for its Dragon typing. Its Grass moves offer good performance in raids or Gym defense, even though Speed is not a factor in that game. Moves like Confusion or Magical Leaf allow it to deal consistent damage.

Competitive interest and recommended set

Competitively, Exeggutor is valued for its raw power and strong moves. A popular set includes Leaf Storm or Seed Bomb to deal maximum damage, paired with a Psychic move for coverage. Sleep Powder can provide an opening by putting a key opponent to sleep. Its weakness to Ice, Fire, Flying, and Dark must be covered by a well-built team composition.
