Detailed information

Overview of Typhlosion

Typhlosion is a Fire-type Pokémon from the Johto region. Its Japanese name is バクフーン. This final evolution of Quilava grows in power as flames engulf its back, evoking a true erupting volcano. In the Pokédex, Typhlosion appears as a fast Pokémon capable of generating intense heat around its body to intimidate enemies or launch devastating Fire attacks.

Typhlosion reaches its final form at level 36 after Quilava's evolution. In games, it is particularly appreciated for its high Special Attack, ideal for moves like Fire Blast or Flamethrower. Its Hisuian form, introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, changes its type to Fire and Ghost, which completely alters its battle style and resistances.

Pokédex information and characteristics

In the Pokédex, Typhlosion is described as a Pokémon whose flames can reach an extreme temperature, capable of igniting the air around it. Its eyes sometimes close when it concentrates heat in its back before unleashing an attack. Its height is around 1.7 m and its weight is approximately 79.5 kg. Its base stat spread emphasizes Speed and Special Attack, giving it a clear offensive role in battle.

Its Hisuian form displays different behavior. It creates ghostly flames and uses Ghost-type moves to bolster its offensive potential, providing an interesting variant for players who want a more versatile set combining Fire and Ghost.

Evolution, levels, and breeding

Typhlosion's evolution follows the classic Johto Fire starter line: Cyndaquil evolves into Quilava at level 14, then Quilava becomes Typhlosion at level 36. This evolution brings a clear increase in power, particularly in the damage dealt through its Special Attack. On the breeding side, it belongs to the Field egg group, with a standard egg rate similar to other starters.

Useful moves and abilities

Typhlosion learns many Fire moves such as Ember, Flame Charge, Flame Wheel, Eruption, and Fire Blast. Players often prefer Eruption, whose power is at its maximum when the Pokémon is at full HP. This move becomes fearsome in combination with its decent Speed. It can also learn moves like Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, and Hidden Power via TMs and HMs depending on the version.

Its Hisuian form adds Ghost moves like Shadow Ball, which allows it to broaden its offensive coverage against Grass, Steel, Ghost, and Ground types. In certain games like HeartGold and SoulSilver, Typhlosion remains one of the most appreciated starters for its reliability and its ease in handling important battles.

Typhlosion in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, Typhlosion is available and has an exclusive Charged Move, Blast Burn, when evolved during certain events. It is primarily played as a Fire attacker thanks to a strong Attack stat. However, its Defense remains limited, which means players must use it primarily in offensive situations.

Typhlosion Pokémon cards

Typhlosion Pokémon cards are often sought after, notably holographic versions from sets such as Neo Genesis, EX, and various modern ultra series. Their price varies depending on rarity, edition, and condition. Some cards depict Typhlosion surrounded by blazing flames, perfectly reflecting its role as a volcanic Pokémon with explosive power.

Whether in main-series games, competitive battles, or the TCG, Typhlosion remains a beloved Pokémon for its strength, its design, and its variants such as the Hisuian form that brings a new play style while preserving its identity as a formidable Fire Pokémon.
