Detailed information

General overview of Lickilicky

Lickilicky, known in Japanese as ベロベルト, is a Normal type Pokémon that first appeared in the fourth generation. It is the direct evolution of Lickitung, obtained when Lickitung learns Rollout and then gains a level. This evolution gives it a more solid role in battle thanks to improved stats, particularly in HP and Defense, making it useful on teams looking for a reliable tank.

Useful information for the games

In the main series games, Lickilicky is appreciated for its great versatility. Its extensible tongue allows it to use a wide variety of moves: Normal, Ground, Fighting, Ghost, Ice, Grass, and even Fire type moves. This diversity provides a very rich movepool, allowing players to adapt its nature and playstyle to suit their strategy. Thanks to its high HP and solid Defense, it can withstand many opponents, even when they charge directly at it — though they may end up covered in drool after certain attack animations.

Type and stats

Lickilicky is purely Normal type, which simplifies its weakness profile, leaving it vulnerable only to Fighting type moves. Its stats are balanced, with an emphasis on endurance and physical bulk. It is rarely used for its Speed, but its bulk often allows it to act on the second turn without being knocked out.

Evolution

Lickitung evolves into Lickilicky when it learns Rollout and then reaches a new level. This evolution method is unique in the series. The Pokédex often describes Lickilicky as a particularly methodical and stable Pokémon, refining the somewhat clumsy nature of Lickitung.

Recommended moves and abilities

Thanks to its extensive movepool, Lickilicky can learn a large number of TMs and several essential moves:

  • Rock Slide or Earthquake for a Ground set capable of catching opponents off guard

  • Body Slam for a reliable and powerful Normal STAB move

  • Ice Punch or Fire Punch for coverage

  • Stone Edge or Sludge Bomb depending on strategic needs

The best moves depend on the intended role: tank, support, or unexpected sweeper. Its greatest strength lies in its versatility. A set oriented toward endurance combined with an Adamant or Bold nature can perform very well in battle.

Pokédex details and miscellaneous information

According to the Pokédex, Lickilicky uses its long tongue to analyze and probe its surroundings. Objects, Pokémon, or people it approaches generally end up covered in saliva. It stands around 1.7 m tall and weighs roughly 140 kg, giving it an imposing presence both in battle and in its in-game appearances.

It is rarely encountered in the wild in classic games, so obtaining one typically requires evolving Lickitung. In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, its appearances are limited, which adds to its value on a well-prepared team.

Usefulness in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, Lickilicky has an interesting defensive role thanks to its high HP. It does not reach the highest CP in the game but remains solid for certain raids and for holding Gyms effectively. Recommended moves include Lick and Body Slam for a stable and consistent combination. Its catch rate is standard for an evolved Pokémon, and its IV should be optimized to maximize its bulk.

Breeding and obtaining

Lickilicky belongs to the Monster Egg Group, making it possible to hatch a Lickitung from an Egg. There is only one standard form and no notable difference between male and female. In Black, White, and more recent games, no special variant has been added.
