Detailed information

General overview of Jumpluff

Jumpluff is a Grass and Flying-type Pokémon introduced in the Johto region. Its English name is Jumpluff and its Japanese name is ワタッコ, which reflects its light appearance inspired by a dandelion. Jumpluff is the final evolution of Hoppip after Skiploom, an evolution that triggers at the appropriate level. This Pokémon is recognized for its ability to move using the wind, which strongly influences its combat style and its stats, which are oriented toward Speed.

Type, role, and positioning in battle

The Grass and Flying type gives Jumpluff a particular defensive profile with several resistances, but also notable weaknesses against Fire, Ice, and Flying types. In battle, Jumpluff is not chosen for its raw power, but for its field control and status capabilities. Thanks to its high base Speed, it often acts first and can effectively disrupt the opposing team.

Stats and strategic potential

Jumpluff's stats are clearly oriented toward Speed and support. Its Attack and Special Attack remain low, which limits its direct offensive effectiveness. On the other hand, its HP and decent Defense allow it to stay in the game long enough to set up status effects. Its high Speed is one of its greatest assets, particularly for placing spores or disruption moves before the opponent.

Key moves and attacks

Jumpluff has a wide selection of moves focused on status and control. Moves like Spore, Sleep Powder, or Stun Spore are very appreciated for neutralizing an opposing Pokémon. It can also use Grass or Flying-type moves to deal light damage while maintaining constant pressure. Moves like Synthesis improve its longevity, especially in sunshine, while Tailwind can strengthen an entire team.

Evolution and obtaining

Jumpluff is obtained by evolving Skiploom, which itself comes from Hoppip. This evolutionary chain is accessible quite early in several games, allowing Trainers to quickly have a support-oriented Pokémon on hand. Jumpluff's catch rate is moderate, but its presence in certain windy or grassy areas makes it easier to encounter depending on the version.

Pokédex entries and behavior

According to Pokédex information, Jumpluff lets itself be carried by seasonal winds to travel great distances. Its extremely light body allows it to float in the air for long periods. This characteristic is reflected in its gameplay, where Speed and evasion play a central role. Its very small size and very low weight make it one of the lightest Grass Pokémon.

Utility in games and on a team

In competitive play, Jumpluff is primarily used as a support Pokémon. It excels at hindering opponents, placing status conditions, and creating opportunities for its allies. It naturally finds its place on teams focused on sunshine or battle-pace control. Although it is not an offensive choice, its tactical impact can make the difference against more powerful opponents.

Jumpluff in cards and merchandise

In the trading card game, Jumpluff appears regularly as a card focused on effects and disruption. Its aerial and plant-based design is appreciated by collectors, even though it generally ranks as a support card rather than a main attacker card. For players and collectors alike, Jumpluff remains an iconic Pokémon from Johto's dandelion line.
