General overview of Eelektross
Eelektross, known by its French name Ohmassacre and Japanese name シビルドン, is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. It is the final evolution of Eelektrik, following a process that does not depend directly on level but on the use of a Thunder Stone. In the Pokédex, Eelektross is described as a creature capable of moving both in water and on land thanks to its flexible body and powerful arms.
For players, Eelektross stands out for a unique characteristic. Its Electric type combined with its Levitate ability allows it to have no natural weaknesses, making it a highly valued Pokémon in strategic battles. This absence of weaknesses radically changes the way it must be countered and heavily influences team choices and switching decisions.
Base stats and combat potential
Eelektross has a balanced stat spread oriented toward attack and versatility. Its decent HP and respectable Defense allow it to take several hits, while its Attack and Special Attack offer great freedom in choosing moves. Its Speed remains average, which often requires anticipating battles or using pivot moves like U-turn.
Solid HP to hold on over time
Attack and Special Attack exploitable depending on the chosen set
Average Speed requiring good tempo management
Recommended moves and moveset
Eelektross's wide movepool is one of its greatest assets. It can learn powerful Electric moves such as Thunderbolt or Wild Charge, as well as very useful coverage moves. Crunch allows it to hit Psychic and Ghost types, while Fire Punch or Flamethrower provide an effective answer against Grass and Steel types.
Eelektross can also learn Rock Slide to cover the Rock type and surprise certain opponents. U-turn is often used to maintain momentum and force switches from the opponent. This mix of moves makes it an excellent versatile battle Pokémon.
EVs, nature, and strategic roles
In terms of EVs, Eelektross is generally played with investment in Attack or Special Attack depending on the chosen nature. An Adamant or Modest nature is often preferred to maximize damage output. It can also be played as a mixed set to take advantage of its full offensive arsenal.
EVs in Attack and Speed for an offensive role
EVs in Special Attack to exploit Thunderbolt and Flamethrower
Pivot set with U-turn for team play
Eelektross in the Pokédex and the Trading Card Game
In the Pokédex, Eelektross holds a special place thanks to its lamprey-inspired design and its distinctive number in the Unova region. In the Trading Card Game, Eelektross is regularly represented as an offensive card capable of dealing consistent damage without fear of a direct weakness.
Certain cards highlight its ability to chain Electric attacks or punish opponent switches, which accurately reflects its combat role in the main games. For collectors, rare and alternative versions of Eelektross are appreciated for their dynamic artwork and their connection to its iconic final form.
