General overview of Eelektrik
Eelektrik is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. Its French name is Lampéroie and its Japanese name is シビビール. This Pokémon is known for its lamprey-like appearance and its ability to produce and store powerful electric discharges, making it an interesting choice for players looking for a sturdy Electric type in the mid-evolution stage.
In the Pokédex, Eelektrik is described as a Pokémon capable of latching onto its opponents using its circular mouth in order to drain their life energy, while simultaneously paralyzing them with electricity. This mechanic is consistent with its gameplay style, oriented around constant pressure and disrupting the opponent.
Type, weaknesses, and resistances
Eelektrik is a pure Electric type. This type grants it a natural resistance to Flying, Steel, and Electric-type attacks. However, it has a clear weakness to Ground-type attacks, which represent its main threat in strategic battles.
Thanks to its single type with no double weakness, Eelektrik remains relatively easy to integrate into a team, particularly in games set in the Unova region.
Base stats and EV potential
Eelektrik's base stats are balanced, with decent HP and a solid Defense for an Electric-type Pokémon. Its Special Attack is sufficient to exploit moves such as Thunderbolt, Thunder, and Discharge, while its Speed remains average.
Decent HP allowing it to hold on for several turns
Stable Special Attack to deal consistent damage
Balanced Defense and Special Defense
Average Speed, sometimes requiring strategic support
In terms of EVs, Eelektrik is often optimized with investment in Special Attack and HP, in order to increase its durability and offensive pressure.
Key moves and gameplay
Eelektrik has a wide range of effective Electric moves. It can learn Thunderbolt for reliable use, Thunder to maximize damage, and Discharge to attempt to paralyze the opponent. Moves like Crunch also provide coverage against certain resistant types.
Its gameplay often relies on wearing down the opponent and remaining on the field for a long time, taking advantage of its defensive nature and resistances.
Evolution and place in the line
Eelektrik is the evolution of Tynamo starting at level 39. It can then evolve into Eelektross using a Thunder Stone, allowing it to reach its final form without a level requirement.
This particular evolution makes Eelektrik very interesting, as it can remain at this stage to learn certain moves before evolving — an important strategic point for experienced players.
Eelektrik in the games and Pokédex
Eelektrik appears primarily in Pokémon Black and White as well as Black 2 and White 2. It holds a notable place in the regional Pokédex, especially in specific aquatic and electric zones of Unova.
In single-player battles, Eelektrik is appreciated for its reliability and its ability to take multiple hits, while in more advanced strategy it often serves as a solid transition toward Eelektross, while remaining viable on its own.
Pokémon TCG cards and collection interest
In the Trading Card Game, Eelektrik has several cards highlighting its electric attacks and paralysis abilities. These cards are generally used as support or as an evolution stage, but certain versions offer a good power-to-energy-cost ratio.
For collectors, Eelektrik remains a sought-after card for completing the Unova Electric evolutionary line, particularly in sets linked to the fifth generation.
