Detailed information
Overview of Diancie
Diancie is a mythical Pokémon of the Rock and Fairy type, introduced during the Kalos generation. Its Japanese name is ディアンシー. This jewel Pokémon is set apart by its very particular status, as it cannot be obtained through normal gameplay but via Nintendo events or special distributions.
Diancie has a body composed of pink gemstones, reminiscent of a living diamond. For players, it represents a rare strategic choice, both in battle and as part of a complete Pokédex collection. Its limited availability makes it highly sought after, particularly in the Sun, Moon, and sixth generation games.
Type, Size, and Weight
The Rock and Fairy typing gives Diancie a unique identity. This combination allows it to resist several common types while remaining vulnerable to Steel and Ground. Its size is approximately 0.7 m and its weight is around 8.8 kg, which is relatively light for a Rock-type Pokémon.
Its mineral body acts as a protective gem. In battle, this translates into an excellent base Defense, greatly appreciated in strategic formats, even if its Attack and offensive stats remain more balanced than dominant.
Stats and Battle Potential
Diancie's stats are well distributed, with a high defensive base. Its HP are decent without being exceptional, but its Defense and Special Defense allow it to absorb heavy damage. Its Attack and Special Attack are average, which often leads players to use it as a support or control Pokémon.
Good physical and Special Defense
Balanced Attack stat
Average Speed, dependent on level and nature
With a good EV spread and an appropriate nature, Diancie can become an excellent defensive pivot on a Fairy or Rock team.
Mega Diancie and Strategic Interest
Diancie has a very popular Mega form. The Mega Evolution transforms its diamonds into even more brilliant crystals and profoundly changes its playstyle. Its Defense drops slightly in favor of significantly higher Attack and Speed, making it a formidable offensive Pokémon.
As Mega Diancie, its damage potential increases greatly, notably thanks to Rock and Fairy-type moves capable of piercing high defenses. This form is often used in aggressive strategies, particularly in high-level battles.
Moves, TMs, and Use in the Games
Diancie learns moves based on light, stones, and energy rays. These abilities perfectly exploit its type and its jewel theme. It can learn several useful TMs, allowing it to broaden its offensive coverage.
Rock-type moves for raw damage
Fairy-type moves effective against Dragon and Fighting
Support moves to reinforce Defense
Depending on the level and version of the game, Diancie can adapt to different styles, ranging from defensive support to sweeper with its Mega Evolution.
Diancie in the Pokémon Cards
In the trading card game, Diancie is often represented as an elegant jewel Pokémon, with effects related to Defense or bench support. Certain cards highlight its grace and its ability to strengthen other Fairy or Rock Pokémon.
For collectors, Diancie cards are appreciated for their pink and diamond aesthetics, as well as their rarity tied to its mythical status. They easily find their place in thematic decks or collections centered around legendary Pokémon.
