Detailed information

Overview of Hoopa

Hoopa is a mythical Pokémon introduced in the sixth generation. Its Japanese name is フーパ. It has a very particular status in the Pokédex, as it can change form thanks to a specific held item. Of Psychic and Ghost type in its base form, Hoopa is genderless and cannot breed. It is best known for its strategic role in battle and for its rarity, both in the games and in the trading cards.

Hoopa measures approximately 0.5 m and weighs around 9 kg in its Confined form. Despite its small size, it has very interesting offensive stats, making it a sought-after Pokémon for players who enjoy Special Attack-oriented teams. Its design and mythical status also reinforce its value in the card game.

Hoopa's Forms and Characteristics

Hoopa Confined

Confined is Hoopa's default form. It retains the Psychic and Ghost typing and focuses primarily on Special Attack. This form can use a wide range of powerful Special moves and support abilities. It is often used in sets oriented toward quick damage or field control.

Its stats are balanced but remain fragile on the defensive side. Players must therefore anticipate opposing attacks and take advantage of its decent Speed and offensive potential to gain the upper hand quickly.

Hoopa Unbound

Hoopa Unbound is accessible through the Prison Bottle item. In this form, Hoopa becomes Psychic and Dark type. Its size increases significantly and its weight exceeds 490 kg. This transformation profoundly modifies its stats, with very high Attack and Special Attack.

Hoopa Unbound is formidable in battle thanks to its raw power. On the other hand, its Defense and Speed remain weak points. It is often used as a wallbreaker, capable of piercing defensive teams in a few turns.

Stats and Use in Battle

Hoopa has base stats oriented toward Attack, particularly in its Unbound form. Its Confined form is more versatile, while Hoopa Unbound is clearly intended to deal maximum damage. Competitive players often use it with items that increase its survivability or power in order to compensate for its defensive weaknesses.

Its movepool is very rich and allows it to surprise the opponent with diverse coverage moves. This makes it an interesting choice in specific formats or well-prepared strategic battles.

Hoopa in the Trading Cards

Hoopa is also very popular in the Pokémon card game. Its cards often highlight its rings and dimensional powers. Certain Hoopa cards possess effects that allow searching for other cards in the deck or dealing significant damage quickly.

Thanks to its mythical status and its different forms, Hoopa is sought after by collectors. Promotional or shiny versions can reach high values depending on their condition and rarity. Hoopa therefore remains an interesting Pokémon both for competitive play and for collecting.
