Detailed information

Overview of Zygarde

Zygarde is a legendary Pokémon introduced in the sixth generation. Its Japanese name is ジガルデ. Zygarde plays a central role in preserving the balance of the Pokémon world's ecosystem, which makes it unique compared to other legendary Pokémon. It is known for monitoring the natural order and intervening when it is threatened.

Zygarde is a Dragon and Ground-type Pokémon, a rare combination that allows it to deal significant damage while possessing excellent overall resistance. Its weight varies greatly depending on its form, ranging from a few kilograms to over 300 kg for its most powerful form.

Forms and Specific Mechanics

Zygarde has a unique mechanic based on cells and cores. These elements are scattered throughout the games and allow Zygarde to be assembled or modified. Three main forms are distinguished: the 10% form, the 50% form, and the Complete form. Each form directly influences its stats, size, and effectiveness in battle.

The 10% form is oriented toward Speed and fast moves, ideal for surprising the opponent. The 50% form is more balanced and represents the best-known version of Zygarde. The Complete form, activated in battle when certain conditions are met, provides a massive gain in HP and Defense, making it a very difficult creature to take down.

Stats and Battle Potential

Zygarde has a very solid stat base, particularly in Defense and endurance. Its Complete form reaches extremely high HP values, making it a defensive pillar in many battle formats. Its Speed remains average, but is compensated by excellent longevity.

EVs are often invested in HP and Defense to maximize its ability to absorb damage. In strategic battle, Zygarde is often used as a Pokémon centerpiece to stall and wear down the opposing team over time.

Important Moves and Abilities

Zygarde's movepool is very rich. It learns powerful moves like Earthquake, Dragon Tail, or Thousand Arrows, a signature ability that hits even Pokémon normally immune to the Ground type. Thousand Waves is also very useful for trapping the opponent and controlling the pace of battle.

Thanks to its Dragon type, Zygarde can also use Dragon Pulse or Outrage to deal heavy damage. In combination with Ground-type moves, it covers a wide variety of threats in competitive battles.

Abilities and Gameplay Strategies

Zygarde's main ability allows it to change form mid-battle when it drops below a certain HP threshold. This transformation into its Complete form completely changes the outcome of a battle and forces the opponent to anticipate this power boost.

In Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, collecting Zygarde's cells is essential to fully exploit its potential. This mechanic encourages exploration and gives real strategic depth to its use.

Use in the Games and Trading Cards

In the main games, Zygarde is often obtained through a long quest involving the search for cells and cores scattered across the Alola region. This approach strongly distinguishes it from other legendary Pokémon captured in the traditional manner.

In the trading cards, Zygarde exists in several forms, each highlighting its defensive stats or its raw power. Complete Zygarde cards are particularly sought after for their visual impact and their strategic value in competitive play.
