General overview of Beautifly

Beautifly is a Bug and Flying-type Pokémon, known in English as Beautifly and in Japanese as ビューティフライ. It represents the final evolution of Wurmple after the Silcoon stage and embodies the classic butterfly Pokémon oriented towards special attack. Beautifly is often associated with flowers, pollen and open aerial areas, which is directly reflected in its battle style and in its wind-based moves.

For players, Beautifly is an interesting choice in the early and mid-game thanks to its quick access to effective offensive moves. It has decent HP but remains fragile defensively, which requires strategic use in battle. Its design and offensive role also make it an appreciated card in the trading card game.

Type and battle characteristics

Beautifly has the dual type Bug and Flying. This combination allows it to resist certain common types but strongly exposes it to Rock-type moves, which represent its main weakness. In battle, it relies more on Speed and special power than on endurance.

  • Primary type: Bug

  • Secondary type: Flying

  • Orientation: special attack

  • Role: fragile but fast attacker

Its HP are average and do not allow it to endure for long. It is therefore advisable to use it to strike first or as a finisher against already-weakened opponents.

Stats and in-game potential

Beautifly's base stats are designed for an offensive style. Its Special Attack is its main asset, while its Defense and Special Defense remain low. In practice, this means Beautifly performs well against enemies weak to its types but must avoid prolonged battles.

In terms of progression, it is generally obtained around level 20 after evolving from Silcoon. From that point, it can quickly learn powerful moves that keep it viable up to level 40 or even 50 in a well-balanced team.

Main moves and useful capabilities

Beautifly learns several iconic moves based on wind and pollen. These moves reinforce its identity as an aggressive butterfly Pokémon, capable of attacking at range with efficiency.

  • Silver Wind to deal damage while having a chance to boost its stats

  • Twister as a reliable Flying move early in the game

  • Sleep Powder to control the pace of battle

  • Giga Drain to recover HP while attacking

Through TMs, Beautifly can also access support or coverage moves, slightly improving its versatility despite its fragility.

Beautifly in the Pokémon card game

In the card game, Beautifly is often depicted as a card oriented towards quick damage. Its low Defense is compensated by moves with low energy cost, allowing players to put pressure on the opponent quickly.

Some Beautifly cards highlight the pollen and wings theme, with secondary effects such as Confusion or reduced incoming damage. These mechanics make it an interesting card in decks based on disruption and speed.

Usefulness in capture and availability

Beautifly is generally not directly capturable in the wild. Players must go through evolving Wurmple, which requires a time investment but guarantees a well-prepared Pokémon from the moment it is obtained. It is often available quite early in games set in the Hoenn region, making it a frequent companion for the first Gyms.

Its indirect encounter rate through evolution is stable, and it is also present in several versions of Pokémon GO, where it can be obtained during events or through classic evolution.
