General overview of Ursaring
Ursaring is a Normal-type Pokémon from the Johto region. Its Japanese name is Ringuma. It is known as the Hibernator Pokémon and represents the direct evolution of Teddiursa. Ursaring is a Pokémon appreciated by players for its raw power, very high physical Attack, and effectiveness in solo battles and league play. It is easily recognizable by its large size, massive body, and the light circle on its chest.
In the Pokédex, Ursaring is described as an extremely territorial Pokémon, capable of defending its area with impressive force. It is often active at night, when it sets out to search for food, which explains its aggressive behavior when disturbed.
Type and base characteristics
Ursaring is a pure Normal-type Pokémon. This type offers it great defensive neutrality, with few direct weaknesses but also few natural resistances. Its primary role, however, remains that of a physical attacker, capable of dealing heavy damage thanks to its very high Attack stat.
Its base stats highlight a massive Attack, solid HP, and decent Defense. Its Speed is average, making it more effective in strategies based on power rather than speed. In battle, Ursaring excels when it can land its moves without being hampered by status effects.
Evolution and how to obtain
Ursaring is the evolution of Teddiursa. This evolution is generally triggered at level 30 in the majority of games in the franchise. In certain recent versions, specific conditions may be added depending on the form or region, but Ursaring remains broadly straightforward to obtain for players.
It is often available in forest or mountain areas, sometimes only at night. Its catch rate is reasonable for a Pokémon of this size, but its power can make the encounter difficult if one is unprepared.
Moves and combat potential
Ursaring has a wide range of highly effective physical moves. It can learn moves such as Scratch, Facade, Ice Punch, Earthquake, and Close Combat depending on the version. This broad selection allows it to cover many opposing types and remain dangerous in nearly every situation.
Thanks to abilities such as Guts, Ursaring can take advantage of status conditions to further increase its power. In league play or competitive battle, it is often used as a wall-breaker, capable of knocking out more fragile Pokémon in a single hit.
Ursaring in Pokémon cards
Ursaring has several Pokémon cards from different expansions. These cards generally highlight its raw power and its high-cost but high-damage moves. Certain Ursaring cards are sought after by collectors, particularly those depicting its wild and imposing side.
In the trading card game, Ursaring is often played as an offensive Pokémon, capable of dealing heavy damage quickly, sometimes at the cost of high Energy requirements.
Additional information for players
Ursaring is an excellent choice for players looking for a straightforward but very effective Pokémon. It fits well in teams oriented toward physical combat and can become formidable at high levels, particularly around level 50.
In Pokémon GO, Ursaring is also valued for its Attack stat and its raid potential, even if it remains dependent on its available moves. Whether for battle, collecting, or strategy, Ursaring remains an iconic and powerful Pokémon in the Pokémon universe.
