Detailed information

Overview of Ursaluna

Ursaluna is a Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It is known by the English name Ursaluna and its Japanese name is ガチグマ. This imposing creature is the final evolution of Ursaring when a very specific condition tied to the moon and peat is fulfilled.

Ursaluna immediately stands out for its massive stature and clearly offensive orientation. It is a Pokémon designed for powerful ground-based combat, both in the main games and in the Trading Card Game universe. Its connection to the full moon and ancient marshes gives it a very distinctive identity, particularly with its alternative form Bloodmoon Ursaluna.

Type and base stats

Dual typing and general profile

Ursaluna has the dual Ground and Normal typing. This combination offers excellent offensive coverage while presenting well-identified weaknesses that players must anticipate in strategic battles.

Its base stats are clearly oriented toward raw Attack and high HP. Ursaluna tanks hits well and deals massive damage, making it a formidable choice for solo battles and teams built around offensive pressure.

  • Very high Attack, ideal for aggressive strategies

  • High HP to endure over the long term

  • Decent but not exceptional Defense

  • Relatively low Speed, requiring good positioning

Evolution and special conditions

Evolution from Ursaring

Ursaluna is the direct evolution of Ursaring. Unlike classic level-up evolutions, this transformation requires a specific peat item and exposure to the full moon. This evolution mechanic reinforces the Pokémon's connection to the lunar cycle and marshy environments.

Level is not the determining factor. Players must above all pay attention to the precise moment of evolution and the required item, which makes Ursaluna rarer and more sought after.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna

Ursaluna also has an alternative form called Bloodmoon Ursaluna. This form has a different typing and stats suited to a more special-oriented playstyle. It is particularly popular in recent games and in Pokémon ex cards.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex is highly appreciated by collectors for its distinctive design and its importance in the current card meta.

Use in battle

Strategic strengths and weaknesses

In battle, Ursaluna excels as a primary attacker. Its high Attack allows it to apply constant pressure on the opponent. It is particularly effective against Rock, Steel, and Electric type Pokémon thanks to its Ground typing.

On the other hand, its weaknesses against Water, Grass, Fighting, and Ice types must be taken into account. Poor anticipation can quickly take Ursaluna out of the fight despite its significant HP.

EV optimization and nature

For competitive use, it is advisable to optimize EVs in Attack and HP to maximize its role as an offensive tank. A nature that boosts Attack is generally preferred, at the expense of Speed.

Value for players and collectors

In the card game, Ursaluna and especially Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex hold an interesting place. Their ability to deal heavy damage in few turns makes them sought-after cards for offensive decks.

Ursaluna cards are often highlighted as powerful products at a moderate rarity level, making them accessible while retaining a certain appeal for collectors.

Whether for completing a Pokédex entry, optimizing a competitive set, or enriching a collection, Ursaluna remains a reference Pokémon thanks to its power, its connection to the moon, and its unique peat-based evolution.
