Detailed information

Overview of Trubbish

Trubbish is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. It is known by the English name Trubbish and the Japanese name ヤブクロン. This Pokémon represents a living garbage bag made of toxic waste, a concept directly tied to the Unova region and its urban areas. Trubbish is primarily used by players for its nuisance abilities, entry hazard placement, and its access to effective Poison moves in strategic battles.

In the Pokédex, Trubbish bears national number #568. It is classified as a Trash Bag Pokémon and stands out for its modest size and relatively light weight, reflecting its appearance as a small garbage bag animated by toxic substances. Despite its unimpressive look, it can become very dangerous once properly trained.

Type, stats, and gameplay basics

Trubbish is a pure Poison-type Pokémon. This type grants it good resistance against Grass, Fighting, Poison, Bug, and Fairy attacks, but it remains vulnerable to Ground and Psychic moves. In battle, these weaknesses must be anticipated when choosing opponents and planning strategic placement.

Its base stats are oriented toward Defense and HP, making it a good Pokémon for tanking damage while inflicting status conditions. Its Speed remains low, but this is compensated by solid access to support and control moves.

  • Decent HP for a base Pokémon

  • Good physical Defense

  • Limited but exploitable Special Attack

  • Low Speed

Evolution and progression

Trubbish evolves into Garbodor starting at level 36. This evolution greatly improves its Defense, HP, and ability to hold the field in long battles. Before this evolution, it is often used as a support Pokémon to set entry hazards and wear down the opposing team.

Its catch rate is relatively high, making it easy to obtain from the first hours of the game. It can be encountered in various urban areas, landfills, or industrial locations depending on the version. It is also available through breeding, belonging to an egg group compatible with several Poison species.

Main moves and battle utility

Trubbish has a wide selection of Poison moves and support abilities. Among the most commonly used moves are Gunk Shot, Toxic, Toxic Spikes, and Explosion. These moves allow it to control the pace of battle and gradually wear down the opponent.

  • Gunk Shot to deal Poison damage with a chance of poisoning

  • Toxic to weaken opposing Pokémon over time

  • Toxic Spikes to set entry hazards upon switching in

  • Explosion for a strategic sacrifice at the end of battle

Thanks to these moves, Trubbish finds its place on teams focused on attrition, field control, and indirect damage. It is rarely used as a primary attacker, but excels in a defensive support role.

Pokémon cards and collector interest

In the Trading Card Game, Trubbish appears regularly in sets tied to Unova and later generations. Its cards often feature poison effects, residual damage, or disruption mechanics, faithful to its role in the video games.

Collectors particularly appreciate alternative versions illustrated with piles of trash or industrial environments. Some promotional or shiny cards can reach notable value depending on their condition, rarity, and the set they originate from.

Trubbish thus remains a Pokémon appreciated both for its tactical gameplay and its distinctive visual identity, among both players and Pokémon card enthusiasts.
