Detailed information

Overview of Garbodor

Garbodor is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. Its English name is Garbodor and its Japanese name is ダストダス. It is the direct evolution of Trubbish, a Pokémon based on toxic waste. Garbodor is best known among players for its defensively oriented stats and its strategic role in battle, particularly thanks to its Poison-type moves and support abilities.

In the Pokédex, Garbodor is classified as a massive Pokémon made up of solidified debris and chemical substances. Its imposing body allows it to absorb many attacks while dealing constant damage through poison-based moves. It is widely used on defensive teams or in attrition-based strategies.

Base stats and battle role

Garbodor's base stats emphasize excellent endurance. Its main strengths lie in its high HP and decent Defense, while its Special Attack remains more situational. Its physical Attack is sufficient to exploit certain moves such as Gunk Shot.

In battle, Garbodor is rarely chosen for its Speed. It is instead played as a Pokémon that controls the field, capable of setting up negative effects and disrupting the opponent over time. Its Poison typing allows it to resist several common types, reinforcing its place on certain competitive teams.

Strengths and weaknesses

Garbodor has good natural resistances against Grass, Fighting, and Poison attacks. However, it remains vulnerable to Psychic and Ground-type moves, which requires players to anticipate opponent switches carefully. When used well, it can wall offensive Pokémon and create openings for its allies.

Moves and best options

Garbodor's movepool is particularly interesting for a Poison-type Pokémon. It naturally learns moves such as Sludge Bomb, Gunk Shot, and Acid, ideal for dealing damage while having a chance to poison the enemy. Certain immediate moves allow it to remain threatening even without heavy investment in Special Attack.

The best moves depend on the mode of play. In standard strategy, Poison-type moves combined with coverage attacks are often prioritized. In Pokémon GO, Garbodor can also surprise opponents with effective charged attacks and solid endurance.

  • Sludge Bomb for consistent damage

  • Gunk Shot for offensive pressure

  • Acid to weaken the opponent

  • Support moves via TMs depending on the generation

Gigantamax form and collectible cards

Garbodor has a Gigantamax form introduced in Sword and Shield. This form considerably increases its visual impact and enhances its relevance in Max battles. In this appearance, its moves become even more threatening and integrate well into duration-based strategies.

On the card side, Garbodor is regularly featured in Pokémon Trading Card Game expansions. Some cards are highly sought after for their effects tied to poison or opponent disruption. The price of these cards varies depending on rarity, the Black or White version, and their actual usefulness in competitive play.

Useful information for players

Garbodor evolves from Trubbish at a certain level, making it a relatively easy Pokémon to obtain during an adventure. Its high weight and massive appearance have no direct impact on gameplay, but reinforce its identity as a defensive Pokémon. It remains a solid choice for players looking for a reliable Poison-type Pokémon capable of holding its ground and bringing genuine strategic value to a team.
