Overview of Toxel
Toxel is a Pokémon introduced in the eighth generation. Its English name is Toxel and its Japanese name is エレズン. It is an Electric and Poison type Pokémon, known as the pre-evolution stage before evolving into Toxtricity. Toxel is primarily obtained in Pokémon Sword and Shield, but it is also present in other recent games related to the Galar region.
This Pokémon stands out for its unpredictable behavior and its personality influenced by its nature. Even at its lowest level, Toxel already has an interesting strategic identity thanks to its dual typing and its quick access to special attack-oriented moves.
Type, group, and general characteristics
Toxel has a dual Electric and Poison typing, which grants it useful resistances against Steel, Poison, Flying, and Electric type moves. In return, it remains vulnerable to Ground and Psychic type moves, two important weaknesses to anticipate in battle.
This Pokémon belongs to the humanoid bipedal group. It is approximately 0.4 meters tall and weighs around 11 kilograms, making it a compact yet energetic creature. Its base HP is relatively low, but its Speed and Special Attack progress adequately with levels.
Base stats and battle potential
Toxel's base stats are modest but coherent for a pre-evolution Pokémon. Its HP are low, its Defense remains average, while its Speed is decent without being exceptional. On the other hand, its Special Attack is clearly emphasized, which encourages a special damage-oriented playstyle.
In solo or double battles, Toxel is mainly used as a preparation step before its evolution. It can nonetheless surprise with certain Poison or Electric moves capable of inflicting secondary effects, notably paralysis or poisoning.
Evolution and available forms
Toxel evolves at level 30. Its evolution depends directly on its nature. Depending on that nature, it will evolve into Amped Toxtricity or Low Key Toxtricity. This mechanic makes nature management essential for players looking to optimize their strategy.
There is only one form of Toxel, but its branching evolution makes it a particularly interesting Pokémon to plan for from the moment it is caught or obtained.
Abilities and notable moves
Toxel can have abilities that directly influence its effectiveness in battle. These abilities generally enhance its Electric moves or interact with its stats based on its condition. When exploited well, they allow its potential to be increased even before evolution.
Its move list includes Electric, Poison, and Normal type moves. It quickly learns effective special moves, making it a good ranged attacker. Some moves are ideal for double battles thanks to their effects on multiple targets.
Usefulness for players and trading cards
For players, Toxel is mainly a strategic investment with Toxtricity in mind. Well prepared with the right nature, suitable Berries, and targeted training in Special Attack and Speed, it becomes a solid foundation for competitive battles.
On the card side, Toxel appears in several Galar-related expansions. The cards often highlight its iconic design and its dual Poison and Electric typing, making it a popular choice for collectors looking to complete coherent evolutionary lines.
