General overview of Swampert

Swampert is a Water and Ground-type Pokémon belonging to the third generation. Its English name is Swampert and its Japanese name is ラグラージ. It represents the final evolution of Mudkip then Marshtomp, reached at a certain level, making it a highly appreciated choice for trainers looking for a powerful and versatile Pokémon.

Swampert is recognized for its massive build, thick arms and great physical strength. Its appearance evokes a large amphibious creature capable of withstanding the most violent attacks. Thanks to its Water and Ground combination, it has an excellent defensive foundation and very good endurance in battle.

Swampert's type and weaknesses

Swampert is a Water and Ground Pokémon, an extremely effective dual type in battle. This combination allows it to completely negate Electric-type attacks, making it a natural shield against many specialized opponents. It also resists Fire, Poison, Steel and Rock moves well.

Its main weakness remains the Grass type, which deals quadruple damage. This weakness is known to all trainers and must be anticipated in strategic battles, particularly in gyms, raids or competitive matches.

Stats and battle power

Swampert has very balanced base stats, with solid Defense, a good HP total and high physical Attack. Its raw power allows it to deliver very effective hits while absorbing a great deal of damage.

Its Speed remains average, but this is compensated by its ability to last over time. Swampert is often used as a defensive pillar or as a physical attacker capable of turning a battle around through powerful Ground moves.

Main moves and abilities

Swampert can learn a wide variety of moves via level-up, TMs and HMs. Its Ground moves are particularly formidable, especially Earthquake, which fully benefits from its physical strength. Water moves such as Waterfall or Surf allow it to be effective against many opposing types.

It can also learn Ice Beam, a very useful strategic move for countering Grass, Dragon or Flying-type Pokémon. Mud Shot, Tackle, Water Gun and certain support moves round out a very versatile moveset, suited to both solo play and competitive battles.

Swampert in the Pokédex and evolution

In the Pokédex, Swampert is described as a Pokémon capable of moving enormous boulders with the strength of its arms. It fiercely protects its territory when it feels threatened, making it a formidable opponent for any reckless enemy.

Its evolution from Mudkip then Marshtomp is linear and based on level, making it accessible from the very start of the adventure in the Hoenn region. This natural progression makes it an excellent choice to accompany a trainer throughout the game.

Swampert and Pokémon cards

Swampert has several highly sought-after Pokémon cards, particularly in Hoenn-related expansions. Some versions highlight its raw power, while others accentuate its defensive role with damage-reduction moves.

Ultra cards and Mega versions also exist, greatly appreciated by collectors for their imposing design and their effectiveness in the card game. Prices vary depending on rarity, condition and edition, making Swampert a reliable choice both for play and collecting.
