General overview of Skorupi

Skorupi is a Poison and Bug type Pokémon introduced in the Sinnoh region. Its English name is Skorupi and its Japanese name is スコルピ. Skorupi is easily recognizable by its purple scorpion body, its tail armed with a venomous stinger, and its sturdy pincers. In the Pokédex, it is described as a Pokémon capable of poisoning opponents with precision thanks to its stinger, making it an interesting choice from the early levels for battle.

Skorupi has balanced stats for a base Pokémon. Its HP remains modest, but its decent Defense allows it to hold up against several types of attacks. Its weight in kg remains low, which influences certain moves based on mass. In-game, Skorupi is often used as a support or harassment Pokémon thanks to its Poison moves and its ability to deal progressive damage.

Stats and base data

The stats of Skorupi are suited to a lightly defensive role with good nuisance potential. Its Attack stat allows it to effectively exploit its physical moves based on its stinger or tail. On the other hand, its Special Defense is more fragile, making it vulnerable to Psychic or Fire attacks. In battle, it is therefore advisable to choose opponents carefully.

  • Primary type: Poison

  • Secondary type: Bug

  • Stat orientation: average Defense and Speed

  • Category: Scorpion Pokémon

In Pokémon GO, Skorupi shows limited CP, but can remain useful in certain lower leagues. Its max CP stays modest, however its fast moves can effectively harass the opponent with Poison effects.

Available moves and abilities

Skorupi learns several moves based on Poison and direct hits. Its immediate moves are often fast and ideal for charging more powerful attacks. Its stinger is one of its main assets, capable of poisoning the target and reducing its survival time in battle.

  • Poison moves with chances of poisoning

  • Physical hits using the tail or pincers

  • Harassment abilities based on progressive damage

Thanks to TMs, Skorupi can learn varied moves to surprise the opponent. Certain abilities can improve its Defense or increase its critical hit chances, which reinforces its effectiveness over time. In strategic sets, it is often played with Poison moves combined with a coverage attack to handle Rock or Grass types.

Use in battle and capture

Skorupi's catch rate is reasonable, making it accessible to players from the first hours of exploration. It appears frequently in certain rocky or dry areas, particularly in Diamond and Pearl versions. Its encounter level varies, but it remains relatively easy to integrate into a team at the start of the game.

In battle, Skorupi is most valued for its ability to gradually weaken the enemy. It excels in long battles where Poison and continuous damage make the difference. Used well, it can become a real nuisance for opposing Pokémon, even against creatures that appear more powerful on paper.

Skorupi in the Pokédex and cards

In the Pokédex entry, Skorupi is often highlighted for its aggressive behavior and precision with its stinger. On the collectible card side, Skorupi exists in several versions, including some shiny cards appreciated by collectors. These cards showcase its scorpion design and its Poison moves, often centered around poisoning and damage over time.

Whether for the video game or for collecting, Skorupi remains a Pokémon appreciated for its unique style, its consistent stats and its tactical utility in many situations.
