Detailed information
Overview of Simipour
Simipour is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. Its Japanese name is ヒヤッキー. It belongs to the same family as Simisear and Simisage, forming a well-known trio among players starting out in the Unova region. Simipour is the direct evolution of Panpour after the use of a Water Stone, allowing players to quickly obtain a fully evolved Pokémon without a specific level requirement.
Simipour stands out for its style built around Speed and Special Attack. It is often used as a straightforward offensive option in a Water-type team, particularly in the early or mid-game. Its general information reveals an offense-oriented Pokémon, capable of effectively exploiting Water and Ice moves to cover several opposing weaknesses.
Stats and strategic orientation
Simipour's stats highlight strong Special Attack and decent Speed, allowing it to strike before many opponents. Its HP is average, as are its Defense and Special Defense, making it a relatively fragile Pokémon. It must therefore be played offensively rather than defensively.
In terms of EV strategy, Simipour is generally optimized with investment in Special Attack and Speed. This choice maximizes its offensive potential and allows it to make the best use of its main moves. A Timid or Modest nature is often recommended depending on whether Speed or raw power is prioritized.
Water type and weaknesses
The Water type gives Simipour good versatility in battle. It naturally resists Fire, Water, Ice, and Steel, allowing it to switch in against certain specific threats. However, its main weaknesses remain Grass and Electric types, both of which are very common in many teams.
These weaknesses must be anticipated when building a team. Simipour works well alongside Pokémon capable of handling Grass or Ground attacks, in order to secure its entries into battle.
Important moves and TMs
Simipour has a Special Attack-oriented movepool. It can learn Surf, Hydro Pump, and Water Gun as its main Water-type moves. These moves allow it to deal consistent or explosive damage depending on the player's choice.
Ice-type moves such as Ice Beam are essential for covering Grass and Dragon types. Simipour can also learn certain utility TMs like Taunt or Crunch, adding an interesting tactical dimension depending on the set used.
Surf for a reliable Water-type attack
Hydro Pump for maximum power
Ice Beam for Ice-type coverage
Taunt to disrupt opposing strategies
Evolution and place in the Pokédex
Simipour is the final evolution of Panpour and does not evolve further. Its number in the Unova Pokédex makes it an easily accessible Pokémon, designed as a quick reward for players who use an Evolution Stone. This mechanic allows players to obtain a fully functional Pokémon very early in the adventure.
In the Pokédex, Simipour is described as an agile Pokémon that attacks opponents using water launched from its tail. This description perfectly reflects its offensive and straightforward playstyle.
In-game and card usage
In single-player combat, Simipour is appreciated above all for its simplicity and immediate effectiveness. It is less present in advanced competitive play, but remains viable in intermediate formats or themed teams. In Pokémon GO, it is sometimes used as a secondary Water attacker, though its popularity remains limited.
On the card side, Simipour has several editions highlighting its Water and Ice attacks. Its price remains generally accessible, making it an interesting card for collectors completing the elemental monkey family. Certain shiny versions attract attention thanks to their dynamic and colorful artwork.
