Overview of Krookodile

Krookodile is a Ground and Dark type Pokémon that appeared in the Unova region. Its Japanese name is ワルビアル. It represents the final evolution of Sandile after Krokorok, making it a combat-oriented Pokémon with a very strong identity. In the Pokédex, Krookodile is described as a brutal predator that uses its physical power and fury to dominate its opponents. It is particularly appreciated by players for its effectiveness in the story and competitive battles, as well as for its popularity on competitive teams.

Type and Strategic Weaknesses

The Ground type combined with the Dark type gives Krookodile a very solid offensive profile. This combination allows it to deal significant damage to many common types while having useful immunities, notably against Ghost type moves. On the other hand, Krookodile must be wary of Water, Grass, Ice, and Fighting moves, which can quickly deplete its HP if it is not properly protected. Its decent Defense nevertheless allows it to take several hits, especially when used with a suitable nature.

Stats and Combat Potential

Krookodile stands out for its high Attack and respectable Speed, making it an excellent offensive Pokémon. Its HP is decent, allowing it to remain on the field long enough to exploit its learned moves. Its Defense is balanced without being exceptional, but compensated by its ability to apply pressure quickly. At high levels, notably around level 40 and beyond, it becomes a serious threat capable of sweeping a poorly prepared team.

Evolution and Acquisition

To obtain Krookodile, Krokorok must be evolved from a certain level. This evolution marks a real turning point in terms of power and access to far more destructive moves. The encounter rate for its evolutionary line is not extremely high in the main games, making its acquisition sometimes lengthy but rewarding. Once evolved, Krookodile becomes a pillar of many teams thanks to its stat gains and its wide range of moves.

Learned Moves and Key Abilities

Krookodile has an excellent movepool oriented towards physical Attack. It naturally learns very powerful Ground moves such as Earthquake, ideal for dealing heavy damage in battle. Dark type moves like Crunch reinforce its effectiveness against Psychic and Ghost Pokémon. Thanks to HMs and move tutors, it can also learn coverage moves such as Brick Break or Fire Fang, allowing it to adapt to different opponents and situations.

Abilities, Nature, and Optimisation

The Intimidate ability is one of the most valued on Krookodile, as it causes an immediate drop in the opposing Attack stat upon switching in to battle. This improves its survivability and makes confrontations against physical Pokémon easier. The choice of nature is crucial for maximising its potential, with an orientation towards Attack or Speed depending on the chosen set. By correctly investing EVs, Krookodile becomes a formidable Pokémon in battle against both AI and other players.

Value for Cards and Collection

In the Trading Card Game, Krookodile benefits from several cards highlighting its raw power and aggressive style. These cards are often sought by collectors for their design and by players for their in-game effectiveness. Its status as the final Pokémon of the Krokorok line reinforces its appeal, whether for completing a collection or for building a deck oriented towards Attack and constant pressure.
