General overview of Gardevoir

Gardevoir is an iconic Pokémon from the Hoenn region, known for its great psychic power and its very strong bond with its Trainer. Its English name is Gardevoir and its Japanese name is サーナイト. It is a Psychic and Fairy type Pokémon, recognized for its devastating attacks and its strategic role in both the main games and competitive battles.

Gardevoir is the final evolution of Ralts, after Kirlia, and this evolution occurs at level 30. Highly appreciated for its versatility, it stands out for an extremely high special attack and broad offensive coverage. In the Pokédex, it is described as a Pokémon capable of creating black holes to protect its Trainer, highlighting its powerful and protective nature.

Type and general characteristics

Gardevoir has the dual Psychic and Fairy typing, which gives it excellent effectiveness against Fighting, Dragon, and Dark types. In return, it remains vulnerable to Ghost, Steel, and Poison attacks. Its height is around 1.60 m and its weight is approximately 48 kg, making it a slender Pokémon that is far from fragile on the offensive front.

Thanks to its Fairy type, introduced in recent generations, Gardevoir has gained in popularity and competitive viability. It is often considered a very powerful Pokémon, capable of turning a battle around with good anticipation and a well-chosen moveset.

Stats and combat potential

Gardevoir's base stats clearly highlight its special attack and special defense. Its weak points lie in its physical defense and HP, which forces the player to protect it from direct attacks. On the other hand, its raw power makes it an excellent special sweeper.

In terms of EVs, Gardevoir is generally optimized with maximum investment in special attack and speed. This allows it to hit hard before being hit, particularly in strategic battles or raids. Its nature is often chosen to further boost its power or speed.

Main attacks and notable moves

Gardevoir has a wide range of psychic and fairy attacks. Among the most commonly used are Psychic, Confusion, Shadow Ball, and Dazzling Gleam. These attacks allow it to cover many opposing types and deal significant damage.

It can also learn support moves such as Calm Mind, which raises its special attack and special defense, further increasing its threat level. Depending on the chosen set, Gardevoir can be played in a purely offensive manner or with a more strategic dimension.

Evolution and alternative forms

Gardevoir is the final evolution of Kirlia, but Kirlia can also evolve into Gallade under certain conditions. This evolutionary branch makes the line very interesting for players who want to adapt their team to different battle styles. Gardevoir remains, however, the preferred choice for a special and magical approach.

There is also Mega Gardevoir, an even more powerful form, endowed with an exceptional special attack. This Mega Evolution reinforces its role as an ultra-offensive Pokémon, capable of breaking through even the most solid defenses.

Gardevoir in the games and the trading card game

In Pokémon games such as Ruby, Sapphire, White, Violet, or Scarlet, Gardevoir is often a cornerstone of teams thanks to its power and accessibility. It can be obtained relatively early and remains viable through to the end of the adventure. In battles against Trainers or in advanced encounter areas, it is among the most reliable Pokémon.

In the trading card game, Gardevoir is also highly sought after. Many Gardevoir Pokémon cards, including ex or shiny versions, are valued for their artwork and their powerful effects. Certain cards reach high values depending on their rarity, condition, and in-game power.
