Overview of Mosslax

Mosslax is an exclusive form of Snorlax unique to Pokémon Pokopia. The sole specimen bearing this name in the game has been sleeping for so long that moss has covered its entire body. A flower sways at the top of its head, ready to bloom. Its vegetation-covered silhouette makes it immediately recognizable upon discovering the Grisemer region.

Its lore is directly tied to its endless sleep. Mosslax is said to have slept so long that its body ended up covered in earth and vegetation. This sleep is at the center of Grisemer's main quest.

Specialty and usefulness in the game

Mosslax is one of the most useful Pokémon in the entire game. Its specialty is Gluttony, which grants it a unique feature: it can bestow global-range blessings, meaning bonuses applied to all regions of Pokopia simultaneously.

Once recruited, its shrine becomes accessible daily. By placing a food offering there, the player activates a bonus whose effect varies depending on the flavor of the food brought:

  • Spicy: increases the encounter rate of Pokémon in habitats
  • Neutral flavor: speeds up friendship with Pokémon
  • Bitter: increases the encounter rate of rare items
  • Dry: increases the encounter rate of Ho-Oh and Lugia Feathers
  • Sour: increases the chances of getting good items at shops
  • Sweet: increases the chances of finding ancient artifacts

Only one bonus is active at a time. Having all berry flavors available allows you to cover all effects depending on your current needs.

How to wake up Mosslax in Pokémon Pokopia

Mosslax is accessible after completing the Terrassec region and obtaining the Super Trainer rank. Upon arriving in Grisemer, it is hidden behind boulders on the cliff. The move Rock Smash allows you to destroy them and locate it.

Its awakening is conditioned by the main quest of Grisemer, titled "Wake Up In There!", given by Professor Tangrowth. The objective is to bring the region's brightness to 100%, a task that involves several Pokémon from the area simultaneously, including Peakychu and its luminescence abilities.

Once maximum brightness is reached and Grisemer's main quest is completed, Mosslax wakes up. The habitat that allows you to recruit it into your community is the Gourmet Dining Corner. The blueprints for this habitat are obtained by searching for shining traces on the ground in Grisemer, by talking to residents whose dialogue bubbles have an orange border, or by purchasing hints at the Pokémon Center PC after improving the environmental quality of the region.

Other exclusive forms in Pokémon Pokopia

Mosslax is not the only new form introduced in Pokémon Pokopia. Several other popular Pokémon have exclusive variants in the game:

  • Professor Tangrowth - a form of Tangrowth wearing the glasses of its former human partner, an essential guide for the player throughout the adventure
  • Peakychu - a faded version of Pikachu that sacrificed its electricity to heal its companions, a specialist in luminescence
  • Smearguru - an artistic form of Smeargle, which uses its tail like a paintbrush
  • DJ Rotom - a Rotom installed in a mini hi-fi system
  • Chef Dente - a Greedent who is a chef, always accompanied by its cooking utensils
