General overview of Electivire
Electivire is an Electric type Pokémon introduced in the fourth generation. Its Japanese name is エレキブル. It is the direct evolution of Electabuzz via trade while holding the Electirizer, making it the final form of the Elekid — Electabuzz — Electivire family line. In the Pokédex, Electivire stands out for its offensive role, powerful attacks, and its ability to deal significant damage to many opponents thanks to its type.
Characteristics and Pokédex information
Electivire has excellent base stats oriented toward physical Attack, with a high Attack stat that fully exploits moves like Thunder Punch or Wild Charge. Its HP and Defense are average, making it somewhat fragile against Ground type moves or against fast Pokémon capable of taking it out before it can strike. Nevertheless, it remains formidable thanks to its decent Speed and varied moveset.
Its imposing frame and two wired tails allow it to generate massive electrical discharges. In the games and on the battle field, Electivire is often played as a physical sweeper, using its brute force to deal maximum damage in as few turns as possible.
Type, weaknesses, and battle style
Electivire is purely Electric type, granting it resistance to Flying and Steel type Pokémon while allowing it to deal heavy damage to those types. However, it is highly vulnerable to Ground. Its weaknesses must be considered when building a balanced team.
In battle, Electivire benefits from immediately strong moves, good DPS, and varied attacks. It can use TMs to cover more types such as Fire, Ice, or even Grass depending on the generation. It also has appealing coverage moves like Ice Punch or Fire Punch, which improve its set and strategic potential.
Evolution and obtaining
To obtain Electivire, Electabuzz must be traded while holding the Electirizer. This evolution triggers immediately upon the trade, making Electivire available fairly late in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. It can also be obtained in certain generations through breeding from Elekid, but Electivire itself cannot hatch from an Egg.
Moveset and recommended attacks
Electivire benefits from a rich moveset. The most recommended offensive attacks include:
Wild Charge — the signature move offering very strong damage potential.
Thunder Punch — a reliable and powerful option with less recoil.
Ice Punch / Fire Punch — excellent coverage against Ground, Grass, Dragon, or Steel types.
Flamethrower (TM depending on version) — useful for hitting Steel or Grass types.
Low Sweep or Brick Break — to break down walls and defensive Pokémon.
In certain games and in raids, Electivire can reach a high max CP. Its Attack and Speed values allow it to remain a solid option for players seeking a versatile and highly aggressive Electric Pokémon.
Electivire in the Pokémon card game
Electivire appears in several Pokémon cards. The cards frequently highlight its raw power, massive electrical discharges, and offensive role. Recent versions feature devastating Electric attacks and a reasonable Energy cost, making Electivire compelling in decks oriented toward immediate damage output. Some cards also highlight its pairing with Magmortar, reinforcing its identity as a powerful Electric Pokémon.
With its high stats, strength, and access to many moves covering Fire, Ice, and Electric types, Electivire remains a particularly appreciated Pokémon among players seeking an aggressive, direct, and hard-hitting fighter.
