Detailed information

Overview of Eevee

Eevee, known in Japanese as イーブイ, is an iconic Pokémon in the Pokédex thanks to its many evolution possibilities. Its concept rests on an unstable DNA that can react to various environments, items, or particular conditions. For players, Eevee is above all a strategic Pokémon offering an evolution choice suited to each team, whether in battle, in the main game, or for collecting trading cards.

Eevee is a Normal-type Pokémon with balanced base stats. Its HP, Attack, and Defense are modest but sufficient to progress to the desired level before considering an evolution. Its height is approximately 0.3 m and its weight is around 6.5 kg, making it a small, quick, agile Pokémon that is easy to catch. In most games, Eevee is available in the wild in certain specific locations, sometimes as a gift, sometimes as a wild encounter on a defined route.

Evolutions and conditions

The very essence of Eevee lies in its multiple evolutionary forms. Each evolution has a different type, power, and moveset, allowing the player to adapt their team. The classic evolutions use stones or environmental conditions.

Stone evolutions

  • Vaporeon – Water Stone

  • Flareon – Fire Stone

  • Jolteon – Thunder Stone

Conditional evolutions

  • Espeon – level up with high friendship during the day

  • Umbreon – level up with high friendship at night

  • Sylveon – level up with high friendship and a Fairy-type move

  • Leafeon – level up near a Mossy Rock or via Leaf Stone depending on the game

  • Glaceon – level up near an Icy Rock or via Ice Stone depending on the game

Each evolution profoundly changes Eevee's role in battle. For example, Espeon offers high Sp. Attack and Speed, while Umbreon focuses on Defense and high HP. Vaporeon is recognized for its ability to tank hits and use powerful Water moves, whereas Jolteon becomes a very fast Pokémon with high Special Attack. These possibilities allow players to build varied teams depending on their combat style, the game, or personal preferences.

Eevee in the games and catching it

In most games, Eevee appears as a rare but accessible Pokémon. The catch rate is reasonable, although some versions impose a limited encounter or a single gift. In battle, Eevee uses basic moves such as Tackle, Quick Attack, or Last Resort at higher levels, but its potential depends mainly on the chosen evolution.

For breeding, Eevee belongs to the Field egg group. It is possible to obtain multiple Eevee to complete the different evolutions, which is useful for players aiming to have a full set in their boxes or in the National Pokédex. Some recent games also feature special forms or appearances in various environments.

Eevee and the Pokémon Trading Card Game

On the trading card side, Eevee is a highly sought-after Pokémon owing to its many forms and its importance in the Pokémon universe. Eevee cards come in multiple versions, sets, and illustrations, often sought after by collectors. Some sets highlight its evolutions, while others feature promotional or exclusive cards.

In summary, Eevee is a flexible Pokémon, easy to integrate into a team and rich in possibilities. Its strategic potential, its many evolutions, and its presence in virtually every generation make it a must-have for players, whether in the video game or in the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
