General overview of Cherrim

Cherrim is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in the fourth generation. Its English name is Cherrim and its Japanese name is チェリム. Cherrim is the direct evolution of Cherubi and stands out for a unique mechanic tied to the weather, making it a particularly interesting creature for players who pay close attention to battle conditions. In the Pokédex, Cherrim is classified as the Blossom Pokémon and its official number makes it easy to identify across all game versions.

This Pokémon has two distinct forms depending on the weather. In overcast conditions, Cherrim takes on a closed appearance, with its petals folded around its body. In sunny weather, it reveals its fully bloomed form, far more vibrant and expressive, with its flower wide open. This transformation has a direct impact on its stats and its role in battle.

Forms and weather influence

The Overcast Form is Cherrim's default form. It appears outside of battles or when the weather is not sunny. In this state, Cherrim remains relatively unassuming and its stats are balanced, with no particular bonus. This form is often seen during encounters in forests or grassy areas.

When sunlight is active, Cherrim automatically switches to its Sunshine Form. Its petals open and its behavior becomes more dynamic. This form significantly boosts its offensive stats, particularly Attack and Special Attack, making it considerably more threatening. Players who use moves that summon sunlight can exploit this change to maximize its potential.

Stats and battle potential

Cherrim's stats vary depending on its form, making it a Pokémon with two faces. In overcast weather, its values remain modest and it mainly serves as a support or transition piece on a team. Under sunlight, however, its offensive stats reach a much higher level, especially at high levels.

At level 50 or at max level, Cherrim can surprise opponents thanks to its decent speed and solid special power. Its IVs and nature strongly influence its effectiveness, particularly for players looking to optimize their competitive sets. Its height and weight in kg remain low, which does not directly impact gameplay but contributes to its identity as a lightweight flower.

Notable moves and abilities

Cherrim naturally learns several Grass-type moves that perfectly exploit its Sunshine Form. It can use moves based on leaves and petals, dealing consistent damage. Dazzling Gleam is also accessible, offering interesting coverage against certain opposing types.

Through TMs, Cherrim can round out its set with support or offensive moves suited to different situations. Players must choose their moves based on the expected weather and the desired role on the team. Managing PP remains important during extended battles.

Availability in games and versions

Cherrim is available in several mainline games as well as in some alternative versions. It can be encountered in forested areas or evolved from Cherubi depending on level conditions. Its Shiny form exists and subtly alters the color of its petals, making it sought after by collectors.

In Pokémon GO and other spin-off titles, Cherrim retains its connection to the weather, making certain forms available only under specific real-world conditions. This distinctive trait adds to its appeal for both strategic players and fans of complete and detailed Pokédex entries.
