General overview of Cherubi

Cherubi is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in the fourth generation. Its English name is Cherubi and its Japanese name is チェリンボ. It is a Pokémon recognizable by the small secondary cherry attached to its body, which plays an important role in its evolution and in its connection to sunny weather.

In the Pokédex, Cherubi is described as a Pokémon that lives primarily in trees. It stores nutrients through photosynthesis and depends heavily on sunlight to survive. This weather-related mechanic is essential for players wishing to understand its evolution and use it effectively in battle or in Pokémon GO.

Type and general characteristics

Cherubi is exclusively Grass-type. This type grants it interesting resistances to Water, Ground, and Electric moves, but it remains vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Bug, Poison, and Flying moves. These weaknesses must be taken into account when using it in battle.

In terms of base stats, Cherubi is a fairly weak Pokémon. It is primarily intended to evolve quickly rather than to be used long-term. Its stats are balanced but low, making it ineffective in competitive battles without evolving.

Base stats and battle potential

Cherubi's stats reflect its status as an intermediate Pokémon. Its HP is limited, as is its Attack and Defense. Its Special Attack is slightly higher, which corresponds to its Grass orientation based on ranged moves.

In practice, Cherubi is rarely used alone in battle. Its main interest lies in its evolution into Cherrim, which benefits from a special form in sunny weather. Players therefore mostly seek to evolve it quickly in order to take advantage of this unique mechanic.

Evolution and weather influence

Cherubi evolves into Cherrim starting at level 25. This evolution is automatic and requires no particular item. However, the strategic interest lies in the form that Cherrim can adopt depending on the weather.

In sunny weather, Cherrim takes on its Sunshine Form, which greatly boosts its Special Attack and Speed. In overcast or sunless conditions, it remains in its standard form, which is far less powerful. This interaction with sunny weather makes Cherubi particularly interesting for weather-based teams.

Use in the games and Pokémon GO

In the main series video games, Cherubi is often found in forested areas or near honey trees. It is sometimes rare depending on the version, which can complicate catching it to complete the Pokédex. Its encounter rate often depends on specific conditions.

In Pokémon GO, Cherubi is mainly sought to obtain Cherrim and its two forms. It requires Candies to evolve, and its appearance can be influenced by events or particular conditions. In raids, it sees little use, but it retains appeal for collectors and players focused on Pokédex content.

Pokémon cards and interest for collectors

Cherubi has several cards in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. These cards are generally common and inexpensive, but certain Shiny versions or those from specific expansions may interest collectors.

Cards that highlight its connection to sunlight or its evolution into Cherrim are particularly appreciated for their thematic consistency. Even if Cherubi is not a powerful card in competitive play, it remains an appreciated choice for Grass-oriented decks or for completing a collection dedicated to the fourth generation.
