Detailed information

Overview of Unfezant

Unfezant is a Normal and Flying-type Pokémon introduced in the Unova region. Its Japanese name is ケンホロウ. Unfezant represents the final evolution of Pidove and then Tranquill, and is clearly aimed at trainers looking for an offensive aerial Pokémon that is easy to integrate into a standard team.

In the Pokédex, Unfezant is described as a proud and territorial Pokémon, particularly aggressive when protecting its territory. This attitude is well reflected in battle, where it relies on Speed, offensive pressure, and effective Flying-type attacks to quickly gain the upper hand.

Base stats and IV potential

Unfezant's base stats are balanced but oriented toward physical Attack. Its decent HP allows it to hold on for a few turns, but its Defense remains average, requiring thoughtful use in battle.

  • Solid base HP for a Flying-type Pokémon

  • High Attack, ideal for physical moves

  • Decent Speed, sufficient to outrun many opponents

  • Average Defense and Special Defense

To optimize Unfezant, it is recommended to target high IVs in Attack and Speed. This fully exploits its role as a physical sweeper, particularly in solo play or against trainers using teams with little resistance to the Flying type.

Main moves and strategic options

Unfezant's moveset is centered on the Flying type, with several powerful moves learned through level-up or TMs. These attacks allow it to deal significant damage while remaining mobile.

  • Brave Bird, a very powerful Flying-type move with recoil

  • Aerial Ace, reliable and accurate in the early game

  • Return, an excellent Normal-type move based on friendship

  • Roost, useful for extending its lifespan in battle

Through TMs, Unfezant can also learn interesting coverage moves to surprise opponents in battle. It remains vulnerable to Rock, Electric, and Ice types, however, which must be anticipated when building a team.

Battle usage and role for the trainer

In battle, Unfezant is primarily used as a fast attacker. It excels at finishing off weakened opponents or applying heavy pressure right from the start of a match. Its Flying type grants it an immunity to Ground, which is valuable against certain highly offensive Pokémon.

For a trainer, Unfezant is an excellent choice during the main adventure thanks to its natural level-based progression and its relatively early availability in Unova. It does not require an Evolution Stone, making it easy to integrate into a team without any particular constraint.

Pokédex information and additional data

In the Pokédex, Unfezant has its own Unova regional number and is distinguished by a strong male-female dimorphism, visible directly in its appearance. This characteristic does not affect stats, but is appreciated by collectors and card enthusiasts.

Its impressive size and wingspan reinforce its image as an aerial dominant. In-game, its catch rate remains standard for a final evolution, which can sometimes require several attempts depending on the level and condition of the Pokémon.

Unfezant remains an accessible, effective, and coherent Pokémon for players looking for a reliable Flying type, both for completing the Pokédex and for optimizing their battles against trainers and in more advanced challenges.
