Overview of Tranquill
Tranquill is a Normal and Flying-type Pokémon introduced in the Unova region. Its Japanese name is ハトーボー. It is the direct evolution of Pidove and the intermediate form before Unfezant. Tranquill is often underestimated by trainers, yet it possesses interesting characteristics for making steady progress through the main adventure.
This Pokémon adopts a calm and disciplined behavior, which is reflected in its battle style. It is particularly appreciated by trainers looking for a reliable Pokémon capable of using precise aerial attacks and lasting several turns thanks to its balanced stats.
Base stats and combat potential
Tranquill's base stats make it a solid Pokémon for the mid-game. Its HP is higher than Pidove's, allowing it to better absorb damage. Its Attack and Defense improve in a balanced way, while its Speed remains sufficient to outrun many wild opponents.
Decent HP for a Flying-type Pokémon
Stable physical Attack to exploit aerial moves
Average Defense but workable with a good moveset
Speed suited to battles against Pokémon of the same level
At level 50, Tranquill reaches a stat threshold that makes it viable against several important trainers, notably during Gym battles or fights against Team Plasma grunts. Its base stats remain lower than those of its final evolution, however.
Moves and available attacks
Tranquill has an interesting movepool for a Flying-type Pokémon. As it levels up, it learns moves focused on precision and constant pressure. Attacks like Quick Attack, Aerial Ace, and Wing Attack are particularly effective for exploiting its type.
Through TMs and HMs, Tranquill can also learn support or coverage moves, increasing its versatility in battle. Certain Move Tutors allow its moveset to be optimized according to the trainer's strategy.

Evolution, level, and methods of obtaining
Tranquill evolves from Pidove at an intermediate level, generally around level 21. It will then evolve into Unfezant by continuing to gain levels. This linear evolution makes it easy to integrate into a team from the beginning of the adventure.
Tranquill can be caught in the wild in several areas of Unova, with a moderate encounter rate. It can also be obtained by evolving Pidove, which remains the most common method.
Usefulness for players and collectible cards
For players, Tranquill represents a key step in team progression. It quickly provides a reliable Flying-type Pokémon for travel, battles, and certain strategic moves. In battle, it is most useful against Grass and Bug types.
On the collectible card side, Tranquill appears regularly in Unova-related expansions. Its medium size and understated design make it a sought-after card for collectors wishing to complete Pidove's evolutionary line. Certain cards highlight its HP and aerial attacks, making them interesting in Flying-themed decks.
