Overview of Trumbeak
Trumbeak is a Pokémon of the Flying and Normal types introduced in the seventh generation in the Sun and Moon versions. Its French name is Piclairon and its Japanese name is ケララッパ. It is the evolved form of Pikipek and the intermediate evolution before Toucannon. Trumbeak is easily recognizable by its colorful bugle-shaped beak, which is central to its identity and its moves.
In the Pokédex, Trumbeak is described as a highly territorial Pokémon that uses the sounds produced by its beak to intimidate opponents and communicate. It frequently inhabits wooded areas and routes in Alola, making it a common encounter for Trainers early in their adventure.
Type, stats, and combat foundation
Trumbeak has the dual Normal and Flying typing, which gives it good versatility in battle but also notable weaknesses against moves of the Rock, Electric, and Ice types. Its base stats are well-balanced for a mid-stage evolution, with decent Attack and adequate Speed.
Its HP remain modest, which calls for some caution during extended battles. On the other hand, its physical Attack allows it to effectively exploit moves based on the beak and Flying. In battle, Trumbeak is often used as a fast attacker in the early or mid-game, particularly in Sun and Moon teams.
General stats
Decent HP for a mid-stage Pokémon
Physical Attack oriented toward beak and Flying moves
Average Defense and Special Defense
Sufficient Speed to outpace many basic Pokémon
Evolution and level requirements
Trumbeak is the direct evolution of Pikipek. This evolution triggers simply by leveling up, typically around level 14. It can then evolve into Toucannon starting at level 28, making it a very accessible evolutionary line for players.
This gradual evolution allows Trainers to build a coherent strategy from the very first routes. Trumbeak represents a key step before obtaining a more powerful, raw-attack-oriented Pokémon.
Moves, abilities, and talents
Trumbeak primarily learns Flying and Normal-type moves, with an emphasis on sound-based attacks and techniques using its beak. Drill Peck and Peck are among its signature moves, ideal for taking advantage of its base Attack.
It can also learn support and control moves, useful for weakening the opponent before landing the finishing blow. Its main ability improves its consistency in battle, while its level-up moves reinforce its offensive role.
Strategic in-game use
Good choice for early and mid-adventure battles
Useful for catching Pokémon thanks to moves with low PP cost
Effective against Grass and Bug-type Pokémon
Trumbeak in the Pokédex and the games
In the Alola Pokédex, Trumbeak holds an important place among the regional bird Pokémon. Its medium size and distinctive beak make it immediately recognizable. It is frequently encountered on main routes, which increases its catch rate for beginner Trainers.
In terms of useful information for players, Trumbeak is an excellent choice for building a balanced team without complex investment in items or specific natures. It remains above all a reliable Pokémon, designed to naturally accompany the player's progression through to its final evolution.
