Overview of Pikipek
Pikipek is a Pokémon of the Normal and Flying types introduced in the seventh generation. It is known as Picassaut in French and ツツケラ in Japanese. This Pokémon stands out for its sturdy beak, capable of delivering rapid strikes against opponents. Pikipek is commonly found in trees and wooded areas, where it drums against trunks to mark its territory and search for food.
In the Pokédex, Pikipek is described as a small, energetic woodpecker. It evolves quite early, making it an interesting choice for Trainers at the start of their adventure, particularly in Pokémon Sun and Moon as well as in Pokémon Go.
Type, base stats, and combat profile
Pikipek has the dual Normal and Flying typing, which provides some useful resistances against Ground and Ghost moves. On the downside, it remains vulnerable to Rock, Electric, and Ice attacks, which strongly influences battles against certain powerful types.
Type: Normal and Flying
Height: approximately 0.3 m
Weight: approximately 1.2 kg
Category: Woodpecker Pokémon
Its base stats favor Speed and Attack, allowing Pikipek to strike quickly with its beak before taking too much damage. Its Defense and HP remain modest, which requires playing offensively.
Learned moves and notable abilities
Pikipek learns several beak-based and Flying-type moves from the earliest levels. These moves are ideal for chaining hits and weakening opponents quickly. It can also learn useful Normal-type moves for offensive coverage.
Peck - signature Flying move using the beak
Drill Peck - powerful move dealing heavy damage
Tackle - basic move useful early in the game
Quick Attack - useful priority move against certain Pokémon
As it gains levels, Pikipek grows more effective and prepares well for its second form. Strategically, it is often used as a transitional Pokémon before its evolution.
Evolution and strategic value
Pikipek evolves into Trumbeak starting at level 14, then into Toucannon later on. This rapid evolution is a clear advantage for players looking for a strong Flying-type Pokémon right from the start of the adventure. Trumbeak and Toucannon retain the offensive identity built around the beak and powerful moves.
In battle, Pikipek is mainly used to gain experience quickly. Its catch rate is fairly accessible, making it easy to add to a starting team. It is particularly useful against Bug and Grass Pokémon encountered early in the game.
Pikipek in Pokémon Go and the Trading Card Game
In Pokémon Go, Pikipek is available in the wild and through certain specific encounters. It requires Pikipek Candy to evolve, which remains manageable for regular players. Its fast Flying-type moves make it interesting in certain low-level leagues.
On the card side, Pikipek exists in several versions. Cards often highlight its beak attacks and quick damage output. They are mainly sought by collectors looking to complete the Pikipek, Trumbeak, and Toucannon line. Some basic cards are appreciated for their simplicity and their artwork tied to trees and its natural habitat.
