Detailed information

Overview of Simisear

Simisear is a Fire-type Pokémon originating from the Unova region. Its Japanese name is バオッキー. This evolved form of Pansear represents an ardent monkey capable of manipulating flames with great ease. Simisear is primarily valued for its offensive potential and versatility in battle, especially thanks to its wide access to Fire-type moves and several physical punch-based attacks.

In the Pokédex, Simisear is listed as number 514. It evolves from Pansear using a Fire Stone, with no level requirement, allowing for a quick evolution depending on the player's strategy. This evolution significantly changes its stats and allows it to reach a much higher power level, particularly in Special Attack.

Fire type and weaknesses

As a Fire-type Pokémon, Simisear has natural resistances against Grass, Ice, Bug, and Steel types. However, it has notable weaknesses to Ground, Water, and Rock attacks. These weaknesses must be taken into account in battle, as Simisear has a relatively average Defense and can struggle against powerful direct damage.

Its Fire type nonetheless allows it to fully exploit flame-based attacks like Ember or Fire Blast, ideal for dealing heavy damage in both solo and strategic combat.

Stats and recommended EVs

Simisear's stats are oriented toward Attack and Special Attack, with a decent Speed that lets it outrun several opponents at the same level. Its HP sits around 75, which is acceptable without being exceptional. Its Defense and Special Defense are weaker, making an offensive approach strongly recommended.

  • EVs in Special Attack to maximize Fire-type damage

  • EVs in Speed to improve offensive potential

  • Secondary investment in Attack possible for a mixed set

Important moves and TMs

Simisear has a wide selection of moves learned by level-up or via TM. It can exploit both Fire-type attacks and Shadow or Fighting-type moves. Fire Spin traps the opponent while dealing progressive damage, while Fire Blast remains a reliable option for dealing massive damage.

  • Ember for the early stages of a battle

  • Fire Blast for maximum power

  • Fire Punch for a physically oriented set

  • Crunch to cover the Ghost type

Nature and battle style

Simisear's nature strongly influences its effectiveness. Natures such as Quiet, Calm, Brave, or Mild are often used depending on whether Special Attack or a more balanced set is preferred. It is also possible to opt for natures like Jolly or Hardy to improve Speed or bulk depending on the battle format.

In battle, Simisear is primarily used as an offensive attacker capable of surprising opponents through the diversity of its movepool. It is not considered a defensive Pokémon, but it can be very effective in a well-built team, particularly in Black and White.

Pokémon cards and collectible interest

Simisear appears on several Pokémon cards from different expansions. These cards often highlight its characteristic flames and fiery monkey appearance. Certain cards hold interesting value depending on their rarity, condition, and edition, particularly in sets tied to Unova.

For collectors, Simisear remains a valued card for completing the full evolutionary line with Pansear and for representing the iconic Fire-type Pokémon of the fifth generation.
