General overview of Shinx

Shinx is a fourth-generation Pokémon introduced in the Sinnoh region. Known by its English name Shinx and its Japanese name コリンク, this Electric-type Pokémon is easily recognizable by its dark fur and golden eyes capable of producing sparks. Shinx represents the entry point of the evolutionary line that leads to Luxio and then Luxray, a family highly appreciated for battle and in-game progression.

Shinx is often encountered very early in the adventure, making it an excellent choice for building a balanced team from the very first levels. Its specialty lies in simple but effective Electric moves, ideal against Water and Flying Pokémon.

Type and basic characteristics

Shinx is a pure Electric-type Pokémon. This type gives it good offensive effectiveness against certain common types, while also giving it a notable weakness to Ground attacks. On the other hand, Shinx does not take extra damage from Flying or Steel attacks, which remains useful in early battles.

In terms of stats, Shinx has modest but consistent values for a basic Pokémon. Its Attack and Special Attack are balanced, while its Defense is decent without being exceptional. Its Speed stat is average, which can sometimes require the player to anticipate battle turns.

Attacks and battle progression

Shinx's move list is centered on the gradual learning of Electric moves. From the very first levels, it can use Tackle and Spark, reliable attacks for dealing consistent damage. As it levels up, Shinx learns more strategic moves that improve its battle potential.

  • Tackle to increase Defense and prepare a follow-up attack

  • Spark to deal damage with a chance to paralyze the opponent

  • Thunder Fang later on to exploit its physical power

Thanks to these moves, Shinx integrates easily into a team focused on progression and catching new Pokémon.

Evolution and key levels

Shinx's evolution is straightforward and depends solely on level. It evolves into Luxio at level 15, then into Luxray at level 30. This rapid evolution allows relatively early access to a much more powerful Pokémon, with better stats and greater impact in battle.

This progressive power increase makes Shinx a strategic choice for players who want to invest time in a Pokémon capable of remaining viable up through advanced battles and level 50.

Capture and availability in games

Shinx is generally available in Sinnoh's grassy areas from the very start of the adventure. Its catch rate is favorable, making it easy to quickly add to the team. It is often encountered at a level between 5 and 10, ideal for a fast evolution.

In certain recent and spin-off games, Shinx can also appear under specific conditions such as certain weather or specific Electric zones, reinforcing its connection with its type.

Shinx in cards and collection

Shinx has several cards appreciated by collectors, particularly in series related to Sinnoh. These cards highlight its expressive design and its iconic Electric attacks. In the card game, Shinx is often used as a foundation to evolve toward more powerful Luxray cards.

Its profile as a starting Electric Pokémon makes it a safe value for both players and collectors who wish to complete a cohesive collection around this evolutionary line.
