Detailed information

General overview of Scrafty

Scrafty is a Pokémon of the Dark and Fighting types introduced in the fifth generation. Its English name is Scrafty and its Japanese name is ズルズキン. It is the direct evolution of Scraggy and represents a more massive, more aggressive form of that evolutionary line. Scrafty is known for its appearance as a scrappy lizard, its large bony head, and its skin that it pulls up like a pair of trousers — a detail often mentioned in the Pokédex.

In the main games, Scrafty is appreciated for its solidity in battle and its good balance between physical Attack and Defense. It appeals mainly to players looking for a Pokémon that can take hits while dealing consistent damage, especially through its punch-based moves and Fighting-type techniques.

Stats and base data

Scrafty has a base stat profile oriented toward endurance. Its HP is high for a Pokémon of its type, allowing it to stay on the field for a long time. Its Attack is solid, while its Defense and Special Defense are decent, giving it good overall bulk. Its Speed remains relatively low, however, which influences its strategic role.

  • High base HP for a brawler

  • Reliable physical Attack for prolonged battles

  • Low Speed compensated by bulk

  • Strong EV potential in Attack and HP

Its National Pokédex number is #560. Scrafty stands roughly 1.1 meters tall and weighs close to 30 kg, reinforcing its image as a large, sturdy Pokémon compared to Scraggy.

Typing, weaknesses, and resistances

Scrafty's dual Dark and Fighting typing grants it interesting resistances against Ghost-, Dark-, and Rock-type opponents. On the other hand, it remains vulnerable to Fairy-, Flying-, and Fighting-type moves — important weaknesses to anticipate in strategic battles.

This hybrid typing nonetheless gives it access to a wide range of effective moves capable of catching many opponents off guard in solo or team battles.

Moves and useful abilities

Scrafty naturally learns close-combat-oriented moves, often based on raw power. Punch-based moves are central to its identity, as are high-pressure physical hits.

  • Fighting moves to exploit its Attack stat

  • Dark moves to cover a broad range of opponents

  • TM moves to expand its versatility

  • Useful techniques for both defensive and offensive combat

Through TMs, Scrafty can adapt to different sets, whether to deal consistent damage or to play a more defensive role with support moves.

Evolution and obtaining

Scrafty is the evolution of Scraggy. Evolution triggers at a certain level with no special condition, making it easy to obtain during a regular adventure. This evolution marks a significant gain in base stats, particularly in HP and Attack.

In the games set in the Unova region and later generations, the encounter rate for Scraggy remains moderate, making Scrafty accessible without being too common. This makes it an interesting Pokémon to include in a long-term team.

Scrafty in the Pokémon card game

In the Pokémon card game, Scrafty is often depicted as a brutal and resilient fighter. Its cards emphasize its high HP and moves that deal decent damage, sometimes paired with effects tied to defense or damage reduction.

For collectors, Scrafty cards from various generations remain appreciated for their dynamic artwork and their consistency with its role as a brawling Pokémon. They also find a place in certain Fighting- or Dark-type decks.
