General overview of Palpitoad

Palpitoad is a Water and Ground-type Pokémon introduced in the Unova region. Its English name is Palpitoad and its Japanese name is ガマガル. It represents the intermediate stage of the evolution line starting with Tympole and leading to Seismitoad. Palpitoad is often recognized by players for its interesting dual typing and its utility role on many teams, particularly in solo play and strategic battles.

In the Pokédex, Palpitoad is described as an amphibious Pokémon capable of producing vibrations using the protrusions on its head. These waves can disorient its opponents and are directly linked to several of its moves. Its design and Water and Ground typing grant it a valuable immunity to Electric attacks, making it a relevant choice against certain highly offensive types.

Base stats and battle profile

Palpitoad has balanced stats oriented toward HP and Defense. Its solid HP base allows it to absorb several attacks, while its Defense and Special Defense remain sufficient to hold out over time. Its Speed, however, is fairly low, which often requires anticipating turns or using support moves.

In terms of offensive stats, Palpitoad is not a pure hard hitter, but it can deal consistent damage through Water and Ground-type moves. This combination is very effective for offensive coverage and allows it to hit a wide range of opposing Pokémon.

Important moves and abilities

Palpitoad naturally learns several useful moves as it levels up. Water-type moves like Water Pulse or Scald are often favored for their reliability and potential secondary effects. On the Ground side, moves like Dig or Mud Bomb offer a good alternative to catch opponents resistant to Water off guard.

Through TMs and HMs, Palpitoad can enrich its moveset with utility or coverage moves. It can thus learn additional Ground moves or support attacks that reinforce its defensive role. Strategically, it is sometimes used as a pivot Pokémon capable of absorbing hits and responding with reliable attacks.

Evolution and how to obtain

Palpitoad is the direct evolution of Tympole at a certain level, making it an evolution accessible mid-adventure. It then evolves into Seismitoad at a higher level, marking a significant gain in power and versatility. This natural progression encourages players to keep Palpitoad on their team in order to fully benefit from its final evolution.

In terms of capture, Palpitoad is generally found in aquatic or marshy areas depending on the version. Its catch rate is reasonable, making it fairly easy to add to a team, whether to complete the Pokédex or for use in battle.

Palpitoad in the games and cards

In the Pokémon games, Palpitoad is especially appreciated for its stability and its dual Water and Ground typing, which is highly sought after to counter certain common threats. It easily finds its place on a team oriented toward endurance or field control. Its Electric immunity remains a major advantage in many situations.

On the cards side, Palpitoad regularly appears as a solid intermediate card. Its cards often feature Water or mud-based attacks with interesting tactical effects. While it is not an ultra-rare card, it remains appreciated by collectors looking to complete the evolution line and by players seeking utility cards in the early or mid-game.
