Detailed information

Overview of Obstagoon

Obstagoon is a Dark and Normal type Pokémon introduced in the Galar region. Its French name is Ixon and its Japanese name is タチフサグマ. Obstagoon represents the final evolution of Galarian Linoone and clearly stands apart from the classic forms known in previous generations. This Obstagoon adopts an aggressive bipedal stance and a provocative attitude, designed for combat and psychological pressure on opponents.

In the Pokédex, Obstagoon is described as a Pokémon that boldly confronts its enemies by crossing its arms and blocking attacks. This identity is perfectly reflected in its battle mechanics, particularly in strategic battles and collectible cards where its role is often oriented toward endurance and counter-attacking.

Type, weaknesses, and resistances

Obstagoon's dual Dark and Normal typing gives it a distinctive defensive profile. It is completely immune to Ghost type attacks, which is a major advantage in several competitive formats. On the other hand, it has a marked weakness to the Fighting type, which represents its main threat.

Thanks to its Dark type, Obstagoon resists Psychic attacks, making it a natural counter to many popular special attackers. This combination of resistances and immunities makes Obstagoon very interesting to slot into a balanced team.

Base stats and battle potential

Obstagoon's base stats are oriented toward physical Attack and HP. Its Defense is decent, while its Special Defense is more fragile. Its Speed is average, which often forces it to take a hit before retaliating, but this fits perfectly with its battle style.

In battle, Obstagoon excels in the roles of wall-breaker or anti-sweep Pokémon. It is capable of dealing consistent damage while punishing opponents who try to attack it head-on. Its access to priority or revenge-killing moves further reinforces its presence on the field.

Key moves and abilities

Obstagoon has a wide range of effective physical moves. It can learn powerful Dark type moves, ideal for exploiting its high Attack. Normal type moves provide excellent neutral coverage, very useful against many types.

It also has access to utility moves that can hinder opponents, such as stat drops or counter-attack moves. This versatility makes it viable both in solo battles and in more defensive strategies.

Obstagoon in the Pokémon Trading Card Game

In the trading card game, Obstagoon is often represented as an aggressive card with effects based on provocation or punishment. Some cards deal extra damage if the opponent attacks Obstagoon, reinforcing its identity as a Pokémon that blocks and tanks hits.

Obstagoon cards are appreciated by collectors for their very distinctive design and their black and white contrast. They also find a place in control-oriented or continuous-pressure decks, especially in formats where Psychic types are dominant.

Evolution and how to obtain

Obstagoon is obtained by evolving Galarian Linoone, generally after reaching a certain level at night depending on the version. This evolution condition reinforces its link to the Dark type and the nocturnal atmosphere characteristic of Galar.

Once evolved, Obstagoon becomes a solid cornerstone for players looking for a reliable Pokémon, whether for the main adventure, competitive battles, or card collecting.
