Detailed information

Overview of Mienfoo

Mienfoo is a Fighting-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. Its Japanese name is コジョフー. This Pokémon is recognized for its martial style inspired by traditional martial arts and for its great agility in battle, making it a highly appreciated choice among competitive players and trainers progressing through the game.

In the Pokédex, Mienfoo is described as a Pokémon capable of chaining rapid, precise strikes thanks to its supple and powerful limbs. It favors Speed and technique over raw strength, which strongly influences how it is played both in adventure and in strategic battle.

Type, weaknesses, and resistances

Mienfoo is exclusively Fighting-type. This type allows it to deal significant damage to many common opponents, particularly those of Normal, Rock, Steel, Ice, and Dark types. However, it has several notable weaknesses that must be anticipated in battle.

  • Main weaknesses - Flying, Psychic, and Fairy

  • Useful resistances - Rock, Bug, and Dark

These weaknesses often require playing Mienfoo as a fast offensive Pokémon, capable of striking before being threatened by a direct counter.

Base stats and potential at level 50

Mienfoo's base stats are balanced around Attack and Speed. Its HP is decent without being exceptional, while its Defense is relatively low, which limits its ability to absorb heavy hits.

  • HP - decent base for a Fighting type

  • Attack - high and suited to physical hits

  • Defense - average to low

  • Special Attack - rarely exploited

  • Speed - very good, ideal at level 50

With a good nature and an EV spread focused on Attack and Speed, Mienfoo becomes very effective at applying pressure from the very first turns.

Abilities and strategic value

Mienfoo has highly valued abilities in battle. Its main ability, Regenerator, allows it to recover HP when it switches out, greatly improving its longevity. It can also have Reckless, boosting the power of certain recoil moves.

These abilities make Mienfoo an excellent pivot Pokémon, capable of attacking, retreating, and returning later without losing too much HP.

Moves and most commonly used attacks

Mienfoo naturally learns many effective physical moves. Its move pool allows it to adapt to different playstyles depending on the team's needs.

  • Karate Chop and Close Combat for primary damage

  • Low Kick to reduce opponents' Speed

  • Brick Break to deal with barriers

  • High Jump Kick for maximum power

Through TMs and move tutors, it can round out its set with useful coverage moves against Flying or Psychic types, despite limited options.

Catching, rates, and Pokédex information

Mienfoo can be encountered in the wild in Black and White in certain specific areas. Its catch rate is standard, allowing it to be added to the team without too much difficulty with careful HP management.

Its modest size and feline appearance contrast with the violence of its strikes. In the Pokémon TCG, Mienfoo is often depicted in action, highlighting its martial style and the speed of its movements.

Evolution and role in a team

Mienfoo evolves into Mienshao starting at level 50, making it an excellent long-term investment. Before evolving, it remains perfectly viable thanks to its Speed and abilities, particularly for players who wish to build an effective Fighting-type team from the midpoint of the adventure.

When used well, Mienfoo is a Pokémon capable of making a difference through its precise strikes, its mobility, and its ability to return to the field repeatedly without wearing itself out.
