Detailed information

General overview of Magneton

Magneton is a Pokémon particularly appreciated by players for its electrical power and strategic role. Its English name is Magneton and its Japanese name is レアコイル. It is a direct evolution of Magnemite, formed by the assembly of three units that generate an extremely unstable electromagnetic field. In the Pokédex, Magneton is often found in areas where energy is strong, such as power plants or locations subject to abnormal fields.

Magneton is a genderless Pokémon, which simplifies breeding in the games by removing any male or female considerations. Its weight is around 60 kg and its base offensive stats make it an excellent choice in several formats. Players particularly appreciate its access to a wide variety of Electric and Steel-type moves, while also enjoying very solid defense. It shines especially in games where Steel-type resistances are crucial. Its nature and properly distributed IVs or EVs will strongly influence its performance, especially in competitive play.

Type and weaknesses

Magneton has a particularly interesting dual type, allowing it to resist many attacks. However, it retains a few significant weaknesses to keep in mind in-game when optimizing its use. Its combination also gives it a formidable offensive capability against Water and Flying Pokémon, two types that are often dominant in the main games. Thanks to its internal magnetic field, it can attract certain types of Pokémon or block Steel-related moves, which is useful depending on the version.

Evolution and level

Magneton evolves into Magnezone when exposed to a special magnetic field or when it gains a level in certain dedicated locations depending on the generation. The evolution level can vary between games, but at its core, a simple level gain in the appropriate area triggers the evolution. For players looking to build a solid team, it is recommended to evolve Magneton at the right moment in order to maximize its available moves before advancing to Magnezone.

Moves and abilities

Magneton can learn a large number of Electric, Steel, and sometimes Normal-type moves. It notably has access to moves like Thunderbolt, Spark, Thunder Wave, and Discharge, while also gaining stronger attacks as it levels up. Its raw power is enhanced by its ability, depending on the edition, which can boost certain moves or reduce the damage it takes. Experienced players often optimize EVs to maximize its capacity to either tank hits or strike extremely hard, depending on the chosen role.

Magneton in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, Magneton has fairly high maximum stats, with an interesting max CP for mid-tier leagues. Its HP is not very high, but its raw power and access to effective charged moves give it a respectable place in several formats. Its ability to surprise Water types makes it useful in certain situations. Powering it up via Magnemite Candy is straightforward and accessible.

Pokédex information and useful data

The national Pokédex number of Magneton is 82 and it appears in many different editions. Since traditional breeding is not possible, you will need to use a Ditto if necessary in certain games. Its nature directly influences its base stats, while proper management of IVs and EVs will determine its viability. Thanks to its electromagnetic field, it is recognized in the Pokédex as a Pokémon capable of disrupting electronic devices or even attracting other Magnemite units to strengthen itself.

Magneton Pokémon Cards

Magneton appears regularly in Pokémon cards, with several editions highlighting its electrical power. Some Magneton cards have abilities focused on managing electric energy or amplifying metallic damage. Prices vary depending on rarity, but versions from older sets can reach interesting values. For collectors, Magneton is a popular Pokémon for its unique metallic design.
