Detailed information

General overview of Loudred

Loudred is a Normal type Pokémon introduced in the third generation. It is known by its English name Loudred and is the direct evolution of Whismur. In the Pokédex, Loudred is recognized for its sound power and its cries capable of dealing heavy damage in battle. Its design highlights large circular ears that play a central role in its sound-based attacks.

Loudred generally appears at an intermediate level in the Pokémon games. It evolves from Whismur at level 20, making it a Pokémon accessible fairly early in an adventure. However, it still requires training to reach its final evolution, Exploud, which directly influences its strategic use.

Type and base stats

Loudred's Normal type gives it great versatility in battle. It has only one weakness against the Fighting type, which makes defensive management easier for beginner players. In return, it has no major resistances.

General stats

  • Decent HP for a mid-game Pokémon

  • Balanced Attack and Special Attack

  • Average Defense and Special Defense

  • Rather low Speed, which makes it vulnerable to fast opponents

These stats make Loudred a Pokémon more oriented toward sound attacks than pure physical combat.

Notable moves and abilities

Loudred stands out with a wide range of sound attacks that exploit its voice and auditory organs. These attacks are ideal for dealing consistent damage without relying solely on the Speed stat.

Main moves

  • Howl and Uproar for progressive sound damage

  • Pound for a reliable Normal attack

  • Supersonic to confuse the opponent

  • Payback and Body Slam depending on the generation

Through TMs, Loudred can also learn utility moves such as Taunt or Rest, which broadens its options in strategic battle.

Evolution and level

Loudred is obtained by evolving Whismur at level 20. It then evolves into Exploud at a higher level, generally around level 40. This progression influences how players manage its training and EVs.

At low levels, Loudred is primarily used for its Normal type attacks. At higher levels, it becomes a key stepping stone before reaching maximum sound power with its final evolution.

Capture and encounter rate

Loudred can be encountered in the wild in certain specific areas depending on the version. Its catch rate is moderate, meaning it may require several attempts without being excessively rare.

  • Possible encounters in rocky or resonant areas

  • Available primarily in the wild at an intermediate level

  • Capture made easier with standard Poké Balls

Battle use and counters

In battle, Loudred is primarily used as a special or hybrid attacker. Its sound attacks sometimes bypass certain defensive mechanics, making it interesting against opponents with high Defense.

However, its main counter remains the Fighting type. Fast Pokémon or those with powerful physical attacks can quickly put it in difficulty. It is therefore advisable to pair it with partners capable of handling that type of threat.

Additional information for players

Loudred is often appreciated for its ease of use and its educational role in understanding sound attacks. It allows players to become familiar with effect-based move management and EV optimization before tackling more complex battles.

In Pokémon GO, Loudred retains moderate interest, primarily for its evolutionary progression and the Candy needed for its final evolution.
