General overview of Kommo-o
Kommo-o is a Pokémon of the Dragon and Fighting type, known in French as Ékaïser and in Japanese as ジャラランガ. Introduced in the seventh generation, it represents the final form of an evolutionary line heavily oriented toward strategic combat and raw power. In the Pokédex, Kommo-o is described as a proud Pokémon that fiercely defends its territory thanks to its body covered in steel-hard scales.
General information and Pokédex data
Kommo-o has a large, robust body, a powerful tail, and a head adorned with protective scales. Its high weight and imposing stature make it a formidable opponent on the field. The Pokédex entries highlight its piercing eyes and its ability to absorb heavy damage while delivering devastating attacks. It is a Pokémon that is predominantly male in standard encounters, although both genders exist.
Base stats and competitive potential
Kommo-o's base stats are balanced around Attack, Defense, and HP. Its physical Attack is high, allowing it to effectively exploit moves of the punch or claw variety. Its solid Defense and decent Special Defense provide good resilience, but its Speed remains average. At higher levels, particularly around level 35 and beyond, Kommo-o truly begins to express its full potential in strategic combat.
Type, weaknesses, and resistances
The dual Dragon and Fighting type gives Kommo-o excellent offensive coverage, but also notable weaknesses. It is particularly vulnerable to Fairy, Psychic, Flying, Ice, and Dragon-type attacks. On the other hand, it resists Fire, Water, Electric, Bug, Rock, and Dark types well. In a sandstorm environment, it does not benefit from a natural defensive bonus, but its base bulk remains an important asset.
Moves and battle style
Kommo-o has a wide range of physical and special moves. Dragon-type moves allow it to exploit its raw power, while Fighting-type moves reinforce its role as a wall-breaker. Punch and Steel-type moves are often used to surprise opponents and broaden offensive coverage. Thanks to certain dual-effect moves, Kommo-o can raise its stats while dealing damage, making it a lasting threat on the field.
Recommended IVs, EVs, and nature
To optimize Kommo-o, ideal IVs focus on Attack, HP, and Defense. EVs are generally invested in Attack and Speed, or in HP depending on the desired role. A nature boosting Attack or Defense is often preferred to maximize its offensive presence or its ability to withstand the most common counters. This type of configuration is particularly effective in competitive battles and in GO mode.
Evolution, breeding, and technical moves
Kommo-o is the final evolution of its line and does not evolve further. Breeding makes it possible to obtain interesting egg moves, which is useful for building optimized sets. It can learn several TMs and HMs, further enhancing its versatility. Its ability, depending on the chosen configuration, can strongly influence how it is played, making each Kommo-o build slightly different depending on the strategy adopted.
Battle use and main counters
In battle, Kommo-o is often used as a sweeper or as a versatile fighter capable of absorbing hits before striking back. Its main counters include fast Fairy-type Pokémon or those carrying powerful Ice-type moves. Good anticipation and precise management of switches are essential to get the most out of its power and limit its weaknesses.
