Detailed information

General overview of Infernape

Infernape is a Fire and Fighting type Pokémon, known by its Japanese name ゴウカザル. It represents the final evolution of Chimchar after Monferno and holds a prominent place in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum thanks to its balance between offensive power and high speed.

Infernape is a Pokémon appreciated by competitive players for its versatility. It can attack effectively on both the physical and special side, allowing it to catch many opponents off guard. Its dynamic design and role as a final starter also make it a reliable choice for card collectors.

Type and weaknesses in battle

Infernape has a dual Fire and Fighting type. This combination gives it excellent offensive coverage against many types found in the game. It is very effective against Steel, Ice, Grass, and Normal types, making it formidable in a wide range of battles.

In return, its weaknesses are well identified. Infernape is particularly vulnerable to Ground, Water, Flying, and Psychic attacks. Its relatively low defense forces players to anticipate incoming hits and exploit its speed to strike first.

Base stats and power

Infernape's base stats are geared toward attack and speed. Its high Attack and Special Attack let it adapt to several different sets depending on the chosen strategy. Its natural speed is one of its greatest assets, allowing it to outpace a large number of Pokémon without excessive investment.

Its HP and Defense remain average, which demands precise management of Pokémon switches. In competitive play, Infernape is often used as a fast attacker tasked with breaking through opposing defenses before switching out.

Moves and strategic options

Infernape has access to a wide range of powerful moves. Fire moves such as Flare Blitz or Fire Blast deliver high damage output, while Fighting moves like Close Combat or Mach Punch reinforce its offensive pressure. It can also learn coverage moves such as Stone Edge, U-turn, or Fire Punch via TM or move tutor.

Thanks to this diversity, Infernape can be played as a physical, special, or mixed set. This flexibility makes it hard to predict, especially in competitive formats at level 50 or level 100.

Evolution and presence in the games

Infernape is the final evolution of the Chimchar line. It appears primarily in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, White, and Sun, where it retains a central role thanks to its power and speed. Its evolution happens naturally through level-up, making it a straightforward and effective choice for a full playthrough.

In more recent titles, Infernape remains popular thanks to its ability, which boosts its performance in critical situations. It fits easily into a team built around fast attackers.

Pokémon cards and collector value

There are many Pokémon card versions of Infernape, and they are widely sought after. Infernape appears in several major expansions, with rare, ultra, or alternate art versions that are highly appreciated by collectors. Some Infernape Pokémon cards command high prices depending on their condition and rarity.

Cards that highlight its power, its Fire and Fighting moves, or its status as a final starter Pokémon are particularly popular. For players and collectors alike, Infernape remains a staple of the Pokédex and the Pokémon games.
