Overview of Guzzlord

Guzzlord is a Dark and Dragon-type Pokémon introduced in the seventh generation. It is known in English as Guzzlord and in Japanese as アクジキング. This Pokémon belongs to the Ultra Beast category and stands out immediately for its massive appearance and destructive behavior. For players, Guzzlord is above all a creature with extremely high HP, designed to absorb hits and disrupt battles rather than playing for Speed.

In the Pokémon Sun and Moon games, Guzzlord is presented as an entity from another dimension, whose sole apparent objective is to devour everything. This identity comes through clearly in its base stats, which prioritize raw endurance and physical attack.

Type and Battle Mechanics

The Dark and Dragon typing gives Guzzlord excellent offensive coverage, but also several significant weaknesses. It is notably vulnerable to Fighting, Fairy, Ice, Dragon, and Bug moves. In return, it resists Psychic, Ghost, Fire, Water, Electric, and Grass moves very well, making it an interesting wall against certain team styles.

In strategic battle, Guzzlord is often used as a defensive pivot or a tank capable of dealing consistent damage over time. Its low Speed, however, demands precise anticipation and solid team support.

Base Stats

Guzzlord's base stats are very atypical and perfectly reflect its concept:

  • Extremely high HP, among the highest of all Pokémon

  • Decent physical Attack, sufficient to threaten many opponents

  • Average Defense and Special Defense, compensated by the HP

  • Very low Speed, making it frequently hit first by opponents

This distribution makes Guzzlord particularly effective in formats where durability is paramount, but less suited to fast-paced or offensive battles.

Guzzlord in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, Guzzlord is available through specific Ultra Beast raids. Its maximum CP is high thanks to its enormous HP, making it an interesting choice for certain defensive teams, though its low Speed and weaknesses limit its use in the Battle League.

At level 40, Guzzlord reaches an impressive CP, but it is mainly used for its rarity and iconic status rather than for meta dominance. Players often look for good IVs to maximize its defensive potential.

Pokémon Cards and GX Version

Guzzlord has several Pokémon cards from the Sun and Moon expansions. The Guzzlord GX card is particularly sought after by collectors for its imposing design and its distinctive attacks. In the card game, this version features mechanics centered around constant pressure and opponent resource management.

Depending on stock and edition, the value of a Guzzlord GX Pokémon card can vary, especially for alternate or shiny versions.

General Information and Physical Data

Guzzlord is a very large and heavy Pokémon, reinforcing its image as a voracious monster. Its official Pokédex number places it among the most recognizable Ultra Beasts. There is no known evolution, making it a unique and independent entity in the Pokémon universe.

For players and collectors alike, Guzzlord remains a standout Pokémon, both for its concept and for its visual and strategic impact.
