Detailed information

Overview of Frillish

Frillish is a Water and Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. Its English name is Frillish and its Japanese name is プルリル. It is known for its jellyfish-inspired appearance and for its very interesting dual typing in battle. Frillish is mainly found in maritime areas and the deep waters of the Unova region, where it drifts quietly at the surface or underwater.

In the Pokédex, Frillish is described as a Pokémon that lures its prey with its translucent tentacles before paralyzing them. This information is important for players wishing to understand its strategic role and its behavior in-game. Its small size and moderate weight make it a discreet Pokémon, yet potentially dangerous when used correctly.

Type and weaknesses of Frillish

Frillish has the Water type combined with the Ghost type, giving it interesting resistances and immunities. It is completely immune to Normal and Fighting moves, which can catch many opponents off guard. However, it remains vulnerable to Electric, Grass, Dark, and Ghost moves.

This dual typing allows Frillish to be used as a defensive or support Pokémon, particularly thanks to its Ghost moves that disrupt the opponent. In Pokémon GO, this hybrid typing also gives it particular appeal in certain specific raids and in League battles.

Base stats and potential

Frillish's base stats lean toward Special Defense and HP. Its Attack and Speed remain modest, which limits its effectiveness in a purely offensive role. On the other hand, its solid endurance allows it to hold on for several turns against less prepared opponents.

At level 50, with a good nature and well-distributed EVs, Frillish can become an excellent special wall. Competitive players appreciate its profile for slowing down a battle's pace and gradually wearing down the opposing team.

Useful moves and abilities

Frillish learns classic Water moves such as Scald or Hydro Pump, which benefit from its primary type. It also has Ghost moves such as Shadow Ball, very useful for hitting a wide range of Pokémon. Certain support moves, such as Haze or Confuse Ray, further enhance its strategic interest.

Through available TMs depending on the generation, Frillish can tailor its moveset to the team's needs. In Pokémon GO, its fast and charged moves allow it to surprise opponents in Gym defense or during strategic battles.

Frillish in Pokémon GO and the main games

In Pokémon GO, Frillish is primarily sought for its evolution and for collecting candy. Its maximum CP remains limited, but it has a place in certain restricted-CP leagues. It often appears near bodies of water and during specific events.

In the main games, Frillish is available in the wild from a certain level, generally around level 20 to 25. Its catch rate is decent, making it accessible even without specialized equipment. Pokémon card collectors also appreciate Frillish for its original design and its often highly detailed illustrations.

Evolution and appeal for players

Frillish evolves into a more imposing Pokémon, gaining in power and Defense. This evolution reinforces its defensive and strategic role. Before evolving, Frillish is an excellent foundation for preparing a future team cornerstone, especially in a defensive format.

Whether for completing the Pokédex, optimizing a team, or enriching a card collection, Frillish remains an appreciated Pokémon for its unique type, its interesting in-game information, and its versatility across multiple generations.
