General overview of Emboar
Emboar is a Fire and Fighting type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. It is known by its English name Emboar and its Japanese name エンブオー. As the final evolution of Pignite, Emboar represents the most powerful form of this line and stands out for its raw strength, its mastery of flames, and its clearly offensive orientation in battle.
This Pokémon is often used by players looking for a solid offensive profile, capable of dealing heavy physical damage while also wielding very powerful Fire moves. Its dual Fire and Fighting typing lets it cover many of the opponent's weaknesses, particularly against Steel, Ice, Grass, and Dark types.
Type and weaknesses in battle
Emboar is a Pokémon of the Fire and Fighting type. This combination gives it excellent offensive power but also exposes it to several significant weaknesses that must be anticipated in strategic battles.
Main weaknesses: Water, Ground, Psychic, and Flying
Notable resistances: Steel, Fire, Ice, Grass, and Dark
In battle, it is essential to protect Emboar against Psychic and Ground moves, which are very common in competitive play. In return, it excels against defensive Steel Pokémon thanks to its high-power Fire and Fighting moves.
Base stats and EV potential
Emboar has base stats oriented toward Attack and HP. Its Defense is decent, but its Speed is relatively low, which often requires strategies based on raw power rather than quickness.
High HP for absorbing multiple hits
Very high Attack, ideal for physical moves
Decent Special Attack to exploit certain Fire moves
Low Speed, to be compensated through positioning or support
The most common EV spreads prioritize Attack and HP, in order to maximize its presence on the field and its ability to deal consistent damage.
Key moves and moves
Emboar has a wide selection of Fire and Fighting moves, which makes it very versatile. It can learn powerful moves by leveling up as well as through TMs and HMs.
Flare Blitz, an extremely powerful Fire move but with recoil
Bulk Up, ideal for raising both Attack and Defense
Rock Slide, useful against Flying and Fire types
Heat Wave, a spread Fire move effective in double battles
Low Sweep and Strength for the Fighting type
Through TMs, Emboar can also learn Flame Charge to compensate for its Speed, or Blast Burn for a more offensively special-oriented set.
Evolution and Pokédex information
Emboar is the final evolution of Pignite, having passed through Tepig and then Pignite. It evolves from level 36, marking a clear power increase and an imposing visual change.
In the Pokédex, Emboar is described as a Pokémon that uses the flames blazing from its hands to deliver devastating blows. Its impressive size and weight reinforce its image as a brutal and enduring fighter, perfectly suited for prolonged battles.
In-game use and the Trading Card Game
In the Black and White versions, Emboar is a popular choice for the adventure thanks to its power and its quick access to strong Fire moves. It also remains relevant in certain well-supported competitive strategies.
On the card side, Emboar has several cards highlighting its raw power and spectacular Fire moves. These cards are appreciated for their aggressive artwork and their ability to deal high damage, making it a sought-after Pokémon for collectors and TCG players alike.
