Detailed information

General overview of Delphox

Delphox is a Pokémon of the Fire and Psychic type introduced in the sixth generation. Its Japanese name is マフォクシー. It represents the final evolution of Fennekin, after Braixen, and embodies a mystical fox that wields fire and psychic energy through a flaming wand. Delphox is a Pokémon heavily oriented toward Special Attack and ranged strategy, making it a popular choice in many competitive battles.

Thanks to its dual Fire and Psychic type, Delphox has a wide array of attacks and can respond to many situations. In return, its HP and Defense remain average, which requires players to use it with care and foresight. It stands out above all for its ability to quickly apply pressure to the opponent.

Evolution and general characteristics

Delphox is the direct evolution of Braixen from level 36. This evolution marks an important strategic shift, with a significant gain in Special power and Speed. Its appearance becomes more slender and mysterious, reinforcing its role as an offensive spellcaster.

Its base stats are clearly oriented toward Special Attack and Speed, making it effective at striking first and dealing heavy damage. On the other hand, its HP and physical Defense remain relatively low, leaving it vulnerable to powerful direct attacks.

Key attacks and moves

Delphox has a movepool rich in Fire and Psychic attacks. These moves allow it to effectively target many opposing types. Among the most commonly used Fire attacks are Fire Blast, Flamethrower, and Fiery Dance, ideal for exploiting its Special power.

On the Psychic side, Psyshock and Psychic are often preferred as they allow certain opposing defenses to be bypassed. Delphox can also learn Will-O-Wisp, a highly useful strategic move for reducing the power of enemy physical attackers.

In terms of its ability, Blaze is often used. It increases the power of Fire moves when Delphox's HP are low, which can turn a critical situation around at the end of a battle.

Weaknesses, resistances, and strategic options

The Fire and Psychic typing grants Delphox several interesting resistances, notably against Fire, Grass, Ice, Fighting, and Psychic attacks. These resistances allow it to switch into favorable situations and immediately threaten the opponent.

On the other hand, Delphox also has notable weaknesses against Water, Ground, Rock, Dark, and Ghost attacks. These weaknesses must be anticipated when building a team in order to protect it effectively.

Strategically, Delphox is often played with items such as Choice Specs to maximize its power, or more flexible options that allow it to vary its attacks. A Timid nature is generally recommended in order to optimize its Speed and strike before the opponent.

Delphox in games and cards

In the main games, Delphox is available as the final starter Pokémon in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, and then available in several later versions such as Sun, Moon, and the Ultra versions. It always retains its role as an offensively oriented Fire and Psychic Pokémon.

On the trading card side, Delphox exists in several versions, including Delphox V and certain EX cards. These cards highlight its Special power and its spectacular Fire attacks, making it an interesting choice both for collectors and for trading card game players.
