General overview of Crustle

Crustle is a Pokémon of the Rock and Bug types introduced in the Unova region. It is known by its English name Crustle and its Japanese name イワパレス. This Pokémon is the direct evolution of Dwebble, obtained by gaining a sufficient level of experience without any special item or condition.

Crustle immediately stands out thanks to the enormous boulder it carries on its back. This visual trait is not merely aesthetic — it perfectly reflects its role in battle, centered on defense and physical pressure. It is a Pokémon appreciated by players looking for a solid foundation capable of absorbing heavy damage while posing lasting threats on the field.

Typing and role in battle

Crustle's Rock and Bug typing gives it a very specific defensive profile. It has excellent base Defense, making it an outstanding physical wall in many strategic battles. However, this dual typing exposes it to several significant weaknesses, particularly against Water-, Rock-, Steel-, and Flying-type moves.

Despite these weaknesses, Crustle remains very interesting thanks to its natural resistances and its access to support and control moves. In competitive battles, it is often used to disrupt opponents, set traps, or force switches.

Base stats and potential

Crustle has stats oriented toward Defense. Its base Defense is one of the highest among Pokémon of its type, allowing it to stand up to many physical attackers. Its Attack remains solid, keeping it threatening — especially with powerful Rock-type moves.

Its weak points lie in Speed and Special Defense, which forces players to carefully anticipate matchups. By optimizing EV values and nature, it is possible to reinforce its defensive role or turn it into a hazard setter that is very difficult to deal with.

Moves and useful moveset

Crustle has a wide selection of physical and strategic moves. It naturally learns Rock-type moves such as Rock Blast and Stone Edge, ideal for dealing consistent damage. Bug-type moves also allow it to catch certain Psychic- or Grass-type opponents off guard.

It is particularly valued for its access to entry hazards such as Stealth Rock, which plays a key role in many battles. Thanks to its high Defense, it can set these hazards safely and force the opponent to adapt their strategy.

Evolution and connection to Dwebble

Crustle is the direct evolution of Dwebble, a more fragile Pokémon that is already defense-oriented. Evolution marks a genuine power jump, particularly in base stats and the capacity to hold the field over time.

For players, evolving Dwebble into Crustle is often a key step in a team built around controlling the pace of battle. This evolution transforms a simple defensive Pokémon into a true strategic pillar.

Cards and collector interest

In the trading card game, Crustle is represented by several cards highlighting its toughness and massive build. These cards are often appreciated for their consistency with the Pokédex, illustrating its natural Defense and its ability to withstand opposing attacks.

Collectors are also interested in Shiny versions and alternate artworks, which highlight the contrast between its body and the boulder it carries. Crustle thus remains an interesting Pokémon for both players and fans of cards.
