General overview of Breloom
Breloom is a Pokémon of the Grass and Fighting type introduced in the third generation. Its English name is Breloom and its Japanese name is キノガッサ. Breloom is the direct evolution of Shroomish from level 23, making it an accessible Pokémon fairly early in an adventure. It is greatly appreciated by players for its offensive orientation and its direct impact in battle.
Thanks to its dual type, Breloom stands out for an aggressive battle style, based on constant pressure and control of the opposing Pokémon. Its appearance resembles a bipedal mushroom with powerful fists, which perfectly reflects its role in close-range combat.
Type and battle role
Breloom combines the Grass type with the Fighting type, a rare combination that allows it to hit many opponents effectively. In return, this dual type exposes it to several significant weaknesses, notably against Flying, Fire, Ice, and Psychic. Good anticipation is therefore necessary to use it correctly.
In battle, Breloom is often played as a physical attacker. Its high attack power allows it to exert immediate pressure from the moment it enters the field. It excels particularly against Water, Rock, Normal, and Ground type Pokémon.
Stats and strategic nature
Breloom's base stats clearly emphasize attack and a decent, if not exceptional, speed. Its defense and special defense remain average, which makes it vulnerable if it does not strike first. The choice of nature is therefore crucial to optimize its effectiveness.
Adamant or Jolly natures are often favored in order to increase either raw power or speed. At level 50, Breloom becomes a serious threat capable of knocking out many opponents in a few well-placed hits.
Key attacks and moves
Breloom has an excellent arsenal of Fighting and Grass oriented attacks. Its access to Spore is one of its greatest strategic assets, as this move automatically puts the target to sleep, offering total control of the battle's pace.
Spore to neutralize an opposing Pokémon
Mach Punch to strike with priority
Bullet Seed or Leaf Blade for Grass type damage
Dynamic Punch or Close Combat for maximum power
Thanks to available TMs, Breloom can adapt its set based on the counters encountered and the chosen game format, whether solo or double.
Availability and in-game use
Breloom is available through the evolution of Shroomish, which is often found in forested areas. Its acquisition is therefore relatively straightforward, making it an excellent choice for building an effective team from the mid-point of the adventure.
In Pokémon GO, Breloom retains good potential thanks to its attack power, even though its fragility limits its use in high-level raids. It nevertheless remains appreciated for its ability to deal fast and precise damage.
Cards and collector interest
Breloom Pokémon cards generally highlight its fighting aspect and dynamic posture. Some cards emphasize its strategic side with effects related to sleep or power increase after a successful hit.
Whether for competitive play or collecting, Breloom remains a well-recognized Pokémon, appreciated for its direct effectiveness, its aggressive style, and its ability to surprise an unprepared opponent.
