General overview of Blaziken

Blaziken is a Fire and Fighting-type Pokémon, known in English as Blaziken and in Japanese as Bursyamo. It is the final evolution of Combusken, itself evolved from Torchic, the Fire starter of the Hoenn region introduced in Ruby and Sapphire. Blaziken holds a central place in the Pokédex of many players thanks to its offensive power, its versatility in battle and its iconic role in the third generation.

This Pokémon stands out for its combat style based on devastating kicks, flames concentrated at its wrists and a natural aggression that makes it an excellent physical attacker. Its number in the National Pokédex is 257, making it easily identifiable in capture and collection records.

Type, form and general characteristics

Blaziken has the dual Fire and Fighting combination, a very offensive type that is nonetheless susceptible to several common counters such as Water, Ground and Flying. This combination nevertheless allows it to deal significant damage to many common opponents, especially Grass, Ice, Steel and Dark types.

  • Above-average height with a humanoid silhouette

  • Considerable weight reflecting its physical strength

  • Form oriented toward direct attacks

  • Design highlighting the legs, feet and flaming wrists

In its base form, Blaziken relies primarily on Speed and raw power. Its Defense is decent but remains secondary to its offensive potential. A Mega form also exists, which further increases its pressure in competitive battles.

Base stats and battle potential

Blaziken is renowned for its high Attack and Special Attack stats, allowing it to adapt to several playstyles. Its Speed is also a major asset, especially combined with certain moves that enhance its effectiveness over several turns.

  • Very high Attack for dealing powerful physical hits

  • Good Special Attack to surprise certain opponents

  • Speed ranging from decent to very high depending on the chosen nature

  • Average Defense and Special Defense

In strategic battles, Blaziken is often used as a sweeper, capable of turning a situation around after a boost. Its win rate depends heavily on good timing and reading the opponent's game.

Moves, attacks and playstyle

Blaziken naturally learns many Fire and Fighting moves focused on kicks and explosive techniques. Blaze Kick and Flare Blitz are among its signature moves, dealing heavy damage but requiring careful HP management.

  • Fire moves to benefit from the type bonus

  • Fighting techniques ideal against Rock and Steel types

  • Boost moves to increase Attack or Speed

  • Access to several useful TMs and HMs for competitive play

In Pokémon GO, Blaziken is also appreciated in raids thanks to its high DPS, even if its limited bulk requires precise dodge management.

Evolution, capture and card interest

Blaziken is obtained by evolving Combusken at an advanced level, making it a natural reward for players who chose Torchic at the start. Direct capture remains rare in the main games, reinforcing its symbolic value.

In the Trading Card Game, Blaziken exists in several versions, including highly sought-after ex and ultra cards. These cards highlight its power, its flames and its aggressive battle style, making it a piece appreciated both for play and collection.

Thanks to its popularity, Blaziken remains an essential Pokémon for competitive players and collectors alike who are attached to the Hoenn region and its iconic starters.
