Overview of Accelgor

Accelgor is a Bug/Poison-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. Its Japanese name is アギルダー. Known for its extreme Speed and streamlined body, Accelgor is often associated with fast offensive strategies in battle. It is the final evolution of Shelmet after a specific trade, making it a unique Pokémon to obtain in the Pokédex.

In the Pokédex, Accelgor is described as a Pokémon whose body dries out to become incredibly light. This characteristic explains its very high Speed and its gameplay style based on initiative. Accelgor is fragile in Defense, but formidable when it strikes first.

Type, weaknesses, and resistances

Accelgor has the dual type Bug and Poison. This combination gives it several useful resistances, particularly against Grass, Fighting, Bug, and Poison types. However, it is vulnerable to Fire, Flying, Rock, and Psychic attacks, which demands good anticipation in battle.

In strategic battle, it is often used as a fast revenge killer to deal damage before being hit. Its Poison type also allows it to use disruptive moves like Acid Spray to lower the opponent's Defense.

Stats and battle potential

Accelgor's base stats are clearly oriented toward Speed. It has very high Speed, often near the maximum at level 50, allowing it to outrun the vast majority of opponents. Its Special Attack is decent, while its Defense and HP remain low.

This profile makes it an excellent fast attacker, but a poor choice for prolonged battles. It is best used as a Pokémon pivot or finisher, capable of surprising the opponent from the very first turn.

Moves, abilities, and TMs

Accelgor naturally learns several moves based on Speed and poison. It can use moves like Bug Buzz, Acid Spray, Acid, or Protect to stall for time. Through TMs, it can also access useful coverage moves against certain Ground or Rock types.

Accelgor cannot be found directly in the wild. It is obtained by evolving from Shelmet after trading it alongside Karrablast, making its acquisition indirect. Its availability therefore depends on trades between players, which can complicate access without interaction.

Once registered in the Pokédex, Accelgor provides an interesting entry thanks to its unique information about its dried-out body and extreme Speed.
