Zweilous is a Dragon and Dark-type Pokémon introduced in the fifth generation. Its English name is Zweilous and its Japanese name is ジヘッド. Zweilous is known for its two constantly bickering heads, a central element of its identity both in the Pokédex and in its strategic use in battle.

In the Pokédex, Zweilous carries the number 634. It represents the middle evolution between Deino and Hydreigon. Official lore states that its two heads do not get along and sometimes attack without coordination, which explains its aggressive and unpredictable behavior.

Base stats and characteristics

Zweilous has stats geared toward physical Attack and HP, making it a sturdy but slow Pokémon. Its Dragon typing allows it to deal heavy damage, while its Dark typing gives it access to useful moves against Psychic and Ghost types.

Zweilous evolves from Deino at level 50, a high threshold that requires a significant time investment. It then evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. This late evolution strongly influences its use in both the main story and competitive play.

For breeding, Zweilous belongs to the Dragon egg group. It can produce eggs that hatch into Deino. The difference between male and female is purely cosmetic and does not affect stats.

Use in battle and the TCG

In battle, Zweilous is mostly used mid-game to wear down the opposing team before its final evolution takes the field. Its low Speed often forces it to take a hit before attacking, but its power compensates for this shortcoming.

In the TCG, Zweilous is appreciated for its aggressive design and double-head-themed attacks. Some cards feature high-powered Dragon attacks or negative effects reflecting the constant infighting between its two heads.

In Pokémon GO, Zweilous remains rare and difficult to evolve due to the number of candies required, which adds to its appeal among collectors.
