Detailed information

Overview of Vikavolt

Vikavolt is a Bug and Electric-type Pokémon introduced in the seventh generation. Known by its French name Lucanon and its Japanese name クワガノン, it represents the final evolution of Grubbin after Charjabug. Vikavolt is often associated with impressive electrical power and a combat style based on Special Attack rather than Speed.

In the Pokédex, Vikavolt is described as a massive beetle that uses the electricity stored in its body to launch concentrated lightning attacks. Despite its imposing appearance, its base Speed remains low, which strongly influences its strategic use in battle.

Type, weaknesses, and resistances

Vikavolt has the dual Bug and Electric typing. This combination provides several interesting resistances, particularly against Grass, Fighting, and Electric moves. However, it remains vulnerable to Fire-type moves and especially Ground-type moves, which represent a major threat in battle.

Its typing allows it to effectively exploit Electric moves against Water and Flying Pokémon, while maintaining a solid array of Bug-type moves to surprise certain Psychic or Dark opponents.

Base stats and strategic potential

Vikavolt's stats are heavily geared toward Special Attack and Special Defense. It has decent HP, good physical Defense, but very low Speed. This distribution makes it formidable on teams that use Speed-control strategies, such as Trick Room.

  • Very high Special Attack to deal heavy damage

  • Low Speed requiring team support

  • Decent Defense allowing it to absorb several hits

In battle, Vikavolt excels in the role of an electric cannon capable of applying immediate pressure upon entering the field.

Evolution and obtaining

Vikavolt is the final evolution of Grubbin. Grubbin evolves into Charjabug at level 20, then Charjabug evolves into Vikavolt by leveling up in specific areas depending on the game. This particular evolution requires players to adapt their progression to obtain Vikavolt quickly.

This evolutionary line showcases a gradual increase in power, with Charjabug serving as a defensive phase before Vikavolt's offensive explosion.

Key moves and abilities

Vikavolt primarily learns Electric and Bug-type moves. Its signature moves rely on pure electricity and concentrated beams.

  • Thunderbolt for reliable Electric damage

  • Thunder for maximum Special Attack power

  • Signal Beam for Bug-type coverage

  • Volt Switch to maintain control of the battle's pace

Thanks to its Levitate ability in certain generations, Vikavolt can avoid Ground-type moves, which greatly improves its strategic viability.

Use in battle and in the cards

In battle, Vikavolt is often used as a heavy special attacker. It is particularly effective against teams built around Water or Flying types. Its low Speed, however, requires precise anticipation of opponent moves.

On the card side, Vikavolt benefits from cards with high HP and powerful Electric moves, making it an appreciated card among collectors and players looking for an original and powerful Electric-type Pokémon.

Its popularity stems as much from its futuristic beetle design as from its raw effectiveness, making Vikavolt a standout choice both in the Pokédex and in strategic battles.
